Sevastopol Marine Aquarium
Sevastopol Marine Aquarium

Sevastopol Marine Aquarium is not just a tourist attraction, but also a research center with a long history. It was founded back in 1897 by Academician A.O. Kovalevsky, head of the Sevastopol Biological Station, and is located in the building of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of the Federal Research Center "A.O. Kovalevsky Institute of Biology of the South Seas of the Russian Academy of Sciences". It is considered one of the oldest in Europe and the first in Russia.

The aquarium is not very large and includes five rooms, which are thematically decorated: in the first hall – the ancient inhabitants of the seas; in the second – the inhabitants of the Black Sea; in the third – freshwater inhabitants from five continents; in the fourth – reptiles; in the fifth – predatory inhabitants of the seas. In total, more than three thousand fish, corals, mollusks and reptiles are represented in the aquarium. Among the inhabitants you can see very rare specimens listed in the Red Book. In addition, the museum's collection is constantly updated with new specimens. There are signs with their names and descriptions.

Large aquariums are built into the walls and are brightly illuminated, there are also outdoor pools. In some aquariums, a unique internal atmosphere has been recreated, which immerses visitors in a particular continent, historical period.

A visit to the Aquarium is accompanied by a guide's story about the history of the Aquarium-museum, about its inhabitants and other funny information and will be interesting not only to the youngest visitors, but also adults will not remain indifferent. In addition, at the end of the story, local staff can safely ask questions of interest.

When booking on the website, regardless of the time, you can eventually come to visit at any convenient time.

Были в акваиумах в Евпатории и Ялте, больше вроде в Крыму нет. Этот понравился больше всего. Детям без разницы что смотреть, лишь бы рыбок больше,а мы с удовольствием почитали подписи и информацию об обитателях.
