Cape Buzzard is the southernmost point of the Crimean Peninsula, a place with wonderful views and nature, as well as a base for tourists with tents. Unlike other famous capes and coastal attractions in these surroundings, Cape Buzzard is quite low, and during a walk along it you can even go down to the seashore. While on the neighboring and also very well-known tourist capes Fiolent or Aya it is not so easy to do this from- due to the high altitude and steepness of the cliffs along the coast.
In fact, Cape Sarych is not definitely the southernmost point of the cape, and in fact it shares this title with another Cape Nikolay, which is located next to Foros. But since Buzzard is a much more interesting and remarkable tourist destination, it was for him that this title was assigned in tourist guidebooks.
A 12-meter lighthouse, made entirely of cast iron and representing a collapsible structure, is installed at the tip of the Buzzard. It was produced in France in 1863 by order of Russia. But he did not appear on Buzzard immediately, but only in 1898, having previously changed several locations on the Crimean coast. Unfortunately, it is impossible to approach the lighthouse and inspect it closely, since it is located in a closed area behind a high fence. But you can find a convenient point on the shore, from where the lighthouse is clearly visible.
Cape Sarych is interesting for tourists as a place for walking, covered with legends and stories. You can come here during the day and just walk around the cape, get acquainted with nature, take beautiful photos and swim on the southernmost beach of Crimea (the beach is not equipped, stone-pebble). If you like to rest in tents, then you can stay right on the beach or in the Yuzhak tent camp for a fee, but with some amenities. And the coastal waters are also very popular with divers, because, as it is believed, there are many treasures hidden here at the bottom.
Please note that now there are several military facilities located on the cape, so there are places with limited access to the territory, and in particular this is a lighthouse, which cannot be approached closely. Also, a lot of restrictions on movement along the cape appeared due to the growth of a cottage settlement and private territories on it, almost everything is blocked by fences. But if you overcome all this obstacle, then the beauty of this place will open to you.
🕐 Working hours: around the clock, it is better to visit during the day in clear weather.
💵 Entrance fee / tickets price: free of charge.
🚶 How to get there: Cape Sarych is located 6 kilometers from Foros, but in fact officially refers not to Big Yalta and Foros, but to Sevastopol (Cape Sarych and the lighthouse on the map). But since Foros is the resort closest to the cape, in our guidebook we attributed it to Foros.
It is best to get here by car. From Foros, you can also walk or ride a bicycle, however, you will have to travel 6 kilometers in one direction. You can also get there by bus, for which you need to take any bus from Yalta or the villages of Greater Yalta, including Foros, in the direction of Sevastopol, and get off at the South Coast highway near the cape at the Cape Sarych stop, and then walk to the shore less than a kilometer.
💥 We remind you that it is much more interesting to get acquainted with the sights of Foros with the help of excursions, and therefore we advise you to look at online booking options on these proven search and price comparison sites:
