What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
Cape Aya is one of the most famous natural attractions of the Crimea, located 20 km from Sevastopol and 8 kilometers from Balaklava resort in a straight line. This place is a gem of wild nature, untouched by human activity. It is the pristine and natural beauty that has become a magnet that attracts thousands of tourists here every year. An interesting fact is that this place is depicted in Aivazovsky's painting "The Storm at Cape Aya".
The untouched nature is maintained by a special protected status. After all, Cape Aya is part of the reserve, with an area of 1,700 hectares. Therefore, it is impossible to stay overnight in this area, as evidenced by the presence of warning signs.
Cape Ayia also includes other well-known natural attractions, the Dragon's Breath Grotto, Laspi Bay, as well as 7 large wild beaches, and all of them are usually visited together during an excursion to the cape.
During the visit, it should be borne in mind that the territory of the cape is a protected area. Therefore, there are no benefits of civilization here, and you can stay overnight in several equipped campsites. But with small children, such a holiday will not be very suitable. And once again we remind you that the unauthorized installation of tents in places not intended for this purpose is prohibited here.
There are several ways to get to Cape Aya. The first and most expensive is to rent an individual boat in a Balaclava, but such a walk will cost you from 5000 rubles. It is much cheaper to join a group boat tour. Then the cost will be from 1000 rubles per person. The boat tour lasts an average of 2 hours.
The second option, less comfortable, but much more interesting, is to walk to the cape on foot. They move out from the Balaclava and go for 2.5 hours. But this method is suitable for trained people, hardy and physically developed, because the trail is difficult. In wet weather, it is advised not to go out, because it will be especially inconvenient to go.
