How to get to Balaklava

Balaklava is located 90 kilometers from Simferopol, 110 from Simferopol airport, and 15 kilometers from the center of Sevastopol (on the map). You can get from Simferopol airport and other resorts of the Crimea here only by bus, taxi, or by your own transport. Sometimes buses are faster and cheaper to get with a transfer through Sevastopol, where you need to change to a city bus directly to Balaklava. If you want to visit Balaklava on your own, then it is quite possible to get here within one full day from the cities of the South Caucasus (Yalta, Alushta, etc.), from the resorts of the West Coast (Yevpatoria, Saki, Nikolaevka), explore the city and return back on the same day. From the cities more remote from Balaklava, it is best to plan a trip with an overnight stay, since in one day you will be able to return, but you will not have time to see anything. By plane via Simferopol airport

The nearest airport to Balaklava is Simferopol airport, 110 kilometers away. So far, this is the only airport in Crimea, where all flights from Russian cities arrive.

By taxi to Balaklava

From Simferopol airport it is most convenient to get to Balaklava by taxi. The car at the airport will not be a problem to find, it can be done at the counter at the exit or already on the street to negotiate with the drivers. Be prepared to bargain hard, especially with private cabs, who sometimes ask for prices higher than a company taxi. For reference, you need to bargain up to a price of 2000 rubles and below.

By bus

There is no direct bus service between Balaklava and other cities of Crimea, there are no buses from Simferopol airport. However, you can get by bus from almost any city of the peninsula, but the way will lie through Sevastopol. Further from Sevastopol to Balaklava you will need to get on city buses, because Balaklava is one of the districts of Sevastopol. But if you go from Yalta and Alushta, you can shorten the time if you get out in Pervomaisky at the "Shaiba restaurant" stop, and take the city bus there.

• From Simferopol or Simferopol airport to Balaklava

  Buses to Sevastopol from the airport depart approximately every hour in the daytime, there are also night flights, but rarely. Even if you don't get a direct flight from the airport to Sevastopol, it's easy to get there via Simferopol. To do this, take any city bus or trolleybus to Kurortnaya bus station on the outskirts of Simferopol, and then take the bus to Sevastopol. From this Station, buses run very often, about every 15-30 minutes from 5 am to midnight, an hour and a half on the way, the cost is from 140 rubles. But be careful, do not take the bus to Sevastopol, going through Alushta and Yalta, otherwise you will go for a very long time.

  Another option is to get to Sevastopol from the Kurortnaya station by train. Trains depart five times a day according to the schedule (05:30, 09:00, 15:00, 17:50, 18:10), on the way 1 hour 50 minutes, the cost of 110 rubles.

  Upon arrival in Sevastopol, transfer to city transport to Balaklava. Such transport goes directly from the bus station and the railway station of Sevastopol, more details below.

• From Yalta, Alushta to Balaklava

  From Yalta to Sevastopol, buses run according to the schedule with an interval of 15-60 minutes, 2 hours on the way, the cost starts from 150 rubles.

  From Alushta buses run less frequently, with a few flights in the morning and a few in the afternoon. The journey is almost 3 hours, cost from 240 rubles.

  But it is better not to go to the very center of Sevastopol, but to get off at the Stop "Shaiba restaurant" in Pervomaisky (stop on the map), or stop" 5th km of Balaklava highway", and then take the city bus to Balaklava. If you pass these stops, you will have to return to these stops on the city buses of Sevastopol.

• From Evpatoria to Balaklava

  From Yevpatoria to Sevastopol, buses depart every 30-60 minutes, two hours on the way, the cost starts from 160 rubles. Then from the bus station transfer to public transport to Balaklava.

• From Sevastopol to Balaklava

  From Sevastopol to Balaklava from the city bus station several times a day direct suburban buses depart, but there is no great sense to go on them. With the same success, you can get on city buses and trolleybuses, but you will need to make one transfer. For the entire trip, you should lay at least an hour. The cost of travel in public transport is 20-25 rubles, depending on the route number, as a result, a trip from Sevastopol to Balaklava will cost no more than 50 rubles.

  2. From the final "5th km of Balaklava highway" to Balaklava you need to take buses No. 8, 9, 33, 99 or 108. go every 10-20 minutes. Go to the stop "PL. 1st May", which is located almost in the tourist center of Balaklava (stop on map).

Private car to Balaklava

You can easily get to balaclava by private or rented transport. If you go from the Kerch crossing directly to Balaklava, then the route is best laid through Simferopol. If you go along the coast through Feodosia, Sudak, Alushta and Yalta, you will have beautiful views of the sea, but the road will take a very long time, besides it will pass through complex serpentines. Similarly, from Simferopol and the airport it is better to go directly through Bakhchisarai, and not through Alushta or Yalta. From Alushta and Yalta it is better to go along the coast, and not through Simferopol.

Since 2017, paid parking has been introduced in the center of Balaklava. The cost of parking will be 50 rubles / hour from 08:00 to 22:00 hours, at night for free. It is now impossible to find a free place in the center, and as an alternative, drivers are invited to leave their cars on a free unpaved parking lot at the entrance to the district on Krestovsky Street, which is about two kilometers from the center (parking on the map).

Transport balaclava, what to move

Balaklava is a small city with a very compact center, transport is not needed to move, everything can be bypassed on foot. The only case when transport may be needed is delivery to the beaches.

In the Bay of Balaklava there is only a concrete beach, but for good beaches you will either have to go for a long walk or go by boat. Some beaches are accessible only by boat. Boats to the beaches are sent from the Bay to fill, at the height of the season this happens very quickly. Then the same boats take vacationers from the beaches.
