Beach overview, prices and services
Gelendzhik Beaches they are located on the shores of the bay, protected from bad weather by thick and Tonkiy Mys (Thin Cape) around the edges. The length of the coastline in Gelendzhik is more than 10 kilometers, but, unfortunately, not all the coast is suitable for swimming. The fact is that there are technical zones and Piers, sanatorium (medical) and children's beaches with limited access, and simply unsuitable for swimming because of too steep shores and a narrow coastal strip. There are not very many such sites, but they can add to the rest a lot of inconvenience if you choose the wrong place for your hotel or rented housing. You can see unsuitable beach areas on our interactive map of the resort they are marked on it in red.
There are no illegal paid and closed beaches in Gelendzhik, everything is in order. At the same time, even on some medical and sanatorium beaches, access to which by law is carried out only by sanatorium books, in practice it is quite possible to get from the outside, just use additional services such as the use of sun loungers, umbrellas, showers, etc.you can not or can only for a fee.
Gelendzhik has Sandy and pebble beaches. It is worth saying that from season to season the state of individual beaches may change, since some of them bring sand, but in general, traditionally only the Central City Beach is Sandy, and all the others are pebbly or even completely terrible concrete. So if you prefer to relax on the sand, choose accommodation closer to the Central City Beach and city center (Center on map). If you like pebbles, you can settle closer to the edges of the Bay in the area of Tonkiy Mys (Thin Cape) (Tonkiy Mys (Thin Cape) district on the map) or Tolstiy Mys (Tolstiy Mys district on the map), or in the center of the Bay where the sanatorium beaches are located.
The development of infrastructure and entertainment on different beaches in Gelendzhik is very different. The most developed place is the Central Beach, where all amenities are presented, ranging from renting sun loungers to the best water activities. But as you move away from the center, infrastructure and entertainment deteriorate sharply. But the price of beach entertainment and services in Gelendzhik for reference:
Here are the prices for services and entertainment:
- Access to the beaches is free.
- The use of changing booths is free of charge.
- Rent of sun loungers - from 200 rubles / day.
- Toilet, shower-30 rubles.
- Banana riding 400 rubles/person.
- Riding on the "tablet" - 500 rubles/person.
Prices at different times and in different places of Gelendzhik may differ at times, especially for tourist services (bicycle rental, entertainment on the beach, rental of sun loungers) and goods. Surprisingly, the lowest prices are in the very center of the resort, and on the outskirts towards the thick and Tonkiy Mys (Thin Cape) they rise. Almost everywhere and at any time you can and should bargain.
Tides in Gelendzhik are practically not felt during the rest, the difference between high and low water levels is a few centimeters. You can see the forecast of Tides:
And now a more detailed overview of each of the beaches with photos:
-
City Central Beach
- ✔ Sandy beach
- ✔ Perfectly equipped, lots of entertainment and there are all amenities
- ✔ Conveniently located near most of the city's entertainment and attractions
- ❌ Peak season can be very crowded
The city's Central Beach is located on the left side of the Bay (The city center on the map is) and it is the actual tourist center of the resort. This is the longest and most developed beach in the resort. In general, it stretches for about 1 kilometer, only in a few places interrupted by technical areas with Piers and water Entertainment. And all this is sand, not pebbles.
The slope of the bottom here is not strong, suitable for safe swimming with children. In addition, safety is provided by rescuers, and there are even separate areas fenced with floats for recreation with children. On the shore there are all amenities and entertainment: umbrellas and sun beds for rent (200 rubles/day), changing rooms (free of charge), paid toilets and showers (from 20 USD). Within walking distance along the embankment there are cafes and restaurants, budget canteens, attractions, shops and more.
Perhaps the only drawback of the Central City Beach is its overcrowding, especially at the height of the season. But if you want peace and solitude, you can walk along the embankment a kilometer or two to the side, and you will get to the pebble beaches of sanatoriums or Tolstiy Mys.
The central beach is very crowded with vacationers during the peak season -
Beaches of Tolstiy Mys
- ✔ Quiet environment, few vacationers on the shore and embankment
- ❌ Few settlements and poorly developed infrastructure compared to the center
In the left part of the Bay, near Tolstiy Mys, there are several pebble beaches (on the map). Here from the center leads the embankment, which is the easiest way to get there. You can get there by city buses, but they make a stop quite far from the coast, and you still have to walk.
The beaches of Tolstiy Mys are mostly pebbly. Sometimes sand is brought to some parts of the coast here, but this is rather rare, so if you decide to stay in this area, you should expect to rest on pebbles, or walk to the central sandy beach.
On the shore here, too, there is everything you need for a comfortable beach holiday, but there is not much entertainment, and in general the situation is calmer. What is nice, the beach here is very wide and almost without old concrete breakwaters.
The beaches on Tolstoy Cape are rarely crowded -
Beaches of sanatoriums in the middle of the Bay
- ✔ Quiet environment, few vacationers on the shore and embankment
- ❌ The exit from the city to the embankment is difficult
- ❌ Access to some beaches is limited
- ❌ Few settlements and poorly developed infrastructure compared to the center
The middle part of the Bay is occupied by sanatoriums and beaches served by them. The coast here is divided into short sections, the passage to which from the embankment in most cases is carried out through something like a gate or checkpoint, and the transition from site to site along the shore is difficult by concrete breakwaters and mills, or even impossible.
Here are the beaches of at least such sanatoriums and boarding houses:
-
Lock "Sunny/Solnechniy" (on the map). Public, unlimited access. It is served by the medical and Health Complex "Sunny/Solnechniy". The length is just over 400 meters, almost half is covered with a concrete strip and a second floor for recreation. There is banana riding, jet ski and catamaran rental, and on the embankment there is a rope park and within walking distance of the largest water park "Golden Bay".
-
Lapis lazuli beach and Sunny Beach (on the map. There are no boarding houses, but admission is completely free and free. Wide and long, almost 400 meters.
-
City Beach (on the map. The public beach is almost 500 meters long, but narrow and very poorly equipped, a lot of bare concrete.
-
The friendly shore (on the map). Refers to the pension "friendly Coast", open to all comers, no fee is charged for admission. But for a fee of 400 rubles, you will get the right to use umbrellas and sun beds, a children's and Sports Ground, a shower and a toilet all day long. Perfectly equipped, but very short, only 100 meters, and there are few water activities.
-
Sunny Beach (on the map). Refers to the sanatorium "Sunny Beach", but is open for recreation to all comers. On the shore there are sun beds and umbrellas for vacationers of the sanatorium, there is almost no entertainment on the shore.
-
City Beach (on the map. Another public beach is about 400 meters long, narrow and not very well equipped.
-
Caucasus (on the map). Officially refers to the sanatorium "Caucasus", in fact public. But tourists will not be able to relax comfortably from the outside, since almost the entire coast is densely packed with sun loungers for guests of the sanatorium.
-
Beach Hotel Alean Family Resort & SPA Biarritz (on the map). Small, at most 60 meters. It consists of a wooden deck above the water, the descent of water on the stairs.
-
Red Talka (on the map. Officially, this beach belongs to the sanatorium, and as the inscription at the entrance says, the entrance is only by sanatorium books. In practice, everyone can come here, only you will have to use the facilities for a fee.
Access to some of the sanatorium beaches in this part of the Bay is legally limited, since they have the status of medical or children's, but there are only a few. Obviously closed and unsuitable places for swimming, look at on our map, they are indicated in red. Some sanatorium beaches are conditionally limited, i.e. to relax on them, you will be asked to pay for the use of a sunbed and other services. But in general, there are no problems with access: there are no obviously illegal paid beaches here and you can always find a place to relax if you walk a few minutes along the embankment in one direction or the other.
The embankment here is as well-groomed as in the center, but there is much less entertainment and infrastructure. You can walk more than one hundred meters until you come across a kiosk in fast food or selling excursions. The exit to the city from the embankment, and accordingly the passage from the city to the beaches, is carried out here through rare alleys between the territories of sanatoriums, so if you settle in this area not in one of these sanatoriums, you will have to go quite far to the beaches, and often bypassing.
As for the beaches themselves, they win here with sparseness and silence, many like the abundance of greenery along the embankment. On the shore there are sun beds and umbrellas, but they are available mainly for guests of boarding houses or for a fee of 400 rubles/day, which is higher than in the center. Beach entertainment (bananas, rental of jet skis and catamarans, children's trampolines and slides) in this part of the coast is not very much, they are represented only on separate public beaches.
This is the Lazuryovy Bereg beach -
Beaches of Tonkiy Mys (Thin Cape)
On the right side of the Bay, on a Tonkiy Mys (Thin Cape), there is a chain of public and sanatorium-related beaches (beaches on the map and Tonkiy Mys (Thin Cape) beaches on the map). You can get here from the center on foot along the embankment, but you have to walk up to 8 kilometers. Or take buses No. 10, 20 and 21 to the final one.
Despite the belonging of some of them to sanatoriums, the whole coast is available for recreation to all comers, there are no closed areas. But not all the coast here is suitable for swimming, and, unfortunately, because of the too thin coastal strip and the proximity of the concrete base of the embankment, you can not swim everywhere. Well, at the very tip of the Cape there are also port facilities. These places are marked on our Gelendzhik Map with a red line.
The rest of the beaches in the area of Tonkiy Mys (Thin Cape) are quite good and there is everything you need for a comfortable stay on the beach: umbrellas and sun beds for rent, water Entertainment, fast food and cafes, beautiful girls. Along the coast there is an embankment where excursions and goods for recreation are sold, although, of course, on a much smaller scale than in the center, and for some reason the prices are higher. The advantage of these beaches is their sparseness compared to the center, as well as the presence of greenery along the embankment.
Thin Cape Beach -
Blue Bay and Medical Beach
Blue Bay is a distant resort area of Gelendzhik, you can even say an independent resort. It is further behind the Thin Cape and the airport (Blue Bay and Medical Beach on the map), you can get here by city buses and minibuses № 3, 3m and 15. This bay is also called Rybatskaya, and the equipped beach here is known as "Medical Beach".
The equipped part of the beach in the Blue Bay has a length of about 200 meters, which, of course, is quite a bit by the standards of Gelendzhik. Its main disadvantage is the great depth. So, already five meters from the shore, the water will reach an adult's shoulders.
The beach here is completely pebbly, and you can't call this pebble small. Therefore, to enter the water, we advise you to take beach shoes for swimming, and not to sit on a towel on the shore, but at least on a tourist mat or an inflatable mattress. However, all the amenities on this beach are there, and you can comfortably stay on a rented chaise longue in the shade of a canopy for 150 rubles / 3 hours.
On the shore there is a short embankment with cafes and stalls selling goods for recreation, massage, a paid toilet, free changing cabins, a medical center. The safety is monitored by rescuers. Part of the shore is occupied by a recreation area for guests of the sanatorium "Blue Bay", but it does not interfere with the rest of the resort's guests. If you walk along the shore to the left or right of the Medical Beach, then you will get to the wild pebble and rocky beaches of the bay.

Hotels and accommodation in Gelendzhik and where to stay
In Gelendzhik, in the peak season, a huge number of rooms and private housing are rented. You can find accommodation of any price category and comfort, there are even international chain hotels of 5 stars. Budget accommodation is represented by private housing, private guest houses and mini-hotels. It is better to book hotels and accommodation in advance, but even if you arrive at the resort without a reservation, you can find it on the spot through intermediaries who meet guests of the city at the bus station, at the entrance to the city (if you travel by car), and in the center near the embankment.
As for the choice of area for living, if you read the information about the beaches above, most of the questions will disappear. If not, here's how best to choose a location:
- The closer to the beach, the better. Ideally, you should look for accommodation within walking distance from the shore and the embankment.
- If you want to be in the heart of the party and fun, it is better to settle closer to the Central City Beach.
- If you need a calmer environment and at the same time proximity to the center, then you can consider options in the area of Tolstiy Mys.
- An even calmer situation in the central part of the Bay. But there are beaches of sanatoriums, access to some of which is limited, and getting to the shore and the embankment through the territory of sanatoriums is not always easy and close.
- Very quiet and peaceful in the area of Tonkiy Mys (Thin Cape). There are also good beaches there, but the most important thing is not to settle on the very tip of the Cape, there is nothing to do there at all.
