RussiaThe Mukhin Gorge route runs along the gorge of the Mukhu River from Teberda for as much as 12 kilometers, but what is good, you can overcome it on foot, by bike, ATV, SUV, and even by a passenger car with a high landing, but with extreme caution. By transport, it can be completed in a few hours, and the walking route provides for an overnight stay in a tent, since only one side will have to overcome 12 kilometers and a height difference of 1400 meters. There are no special attractions along the way, except for the views that open up and the process of traveling itself is interesting. On Mount Lysaya, which is almost at the end of the way, you can deviate a little from the route to see the medieval Alan settlement.
You need to take a raincoat, drinking water, mosquito repellents and sun protection, warm clothes even in summer. It is better to go in good hiking shoes (trekking or hiking boots) and with trekking poles. For a walking route with an overnight stay, when buying an excursion in the city, tents and other necessary equipment are provided.
🕐 Working hours: the route is open from May to October.
💵 Entrance fee / tickets price: adults need to pay 100 rubles for the entrance to the Teberdinsky Reserve route, children under 7 years old - free of charge.
🚶 How to get there: the route starts almost from the city center, the landmark of the cafe "Calypso" (start on the map). After 1 kilometer there will be a recreation center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, after which the road turns into a dirt road and leads to the Muhu pass at an altitude of 2764 meters (pass on the map). But even after the pass, the path does not end, and theoretically you can get on the road to Arkyz, but only on foot through the mountains and Aksaut River gorge. Another option of this route is to turn left near the Azgek River before reaching the pass at 5.6 kilometers of the way, and walk 7 kilometers to the Azgek lakes.
You can go to the Mukhinsky Gorge on your own or with a guided tour, which are offered in the city. Tents and other necessary equipment are provided for the overnight hiking route.
