Yupshar gorge also called The "Stone bag" or Yupshar Gorge is one of the natural attractions of the Ritsa National Park. It was formed along the Yupshara River (Yupsara), and along it passes almost 8 kilometers of road to Lake Ritsa. The walls of the gorge overhang the road and river at its highest point for almost half a kilometer, and the width of the gorge ranges from 100 meters to 20 at its narrowest point. Usually tourists make a short stop of up to 5 minutes on one of the observation platforms to admire this unusual natural formation, go down to the mountain river, and take pictures against the background of intricate steep cliffs and amazing washes in the wall, similar to narrow rectangular windows. They were formed by the forces of nature, washed away by millions of years of exposure to water, and do not listen to guides who tell that these "dwellings" were made by ancient people.
On one of the most popular viewing platforms of the gorge (you can not miss it, there are always a lot of tourists and cars) there are shops with souvenirs, Mountain Honey, Wine and tea, as well as a huge boulder. It is called The "Wishing stone", and to make your wish come true, you need to climb up the stone on the attached iron ladder, and there make a wish for it.

the gorge is located on the territory of the Ritsinsky National Park, for access to which an environmental fee is charged: adults-350 rubles; children 8-12 years old – 150 rubles; children under 8 years old – free of charge. 🚶 How to get there
the gorge is located 45 kilometers from Gagra on the road to Lake Ritsa in the territory of the Ritsa National Park (gorge on the map), the road passes right through the gorge and along the way there are several places to stop and descend to the river. You can get here only by your own transport, taxi or with a tour. As a rule, excursions to Lake Ritsa make a five-minute stop in the gorge.
