What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
The Tsebelda spring and cave is a little–known and mysterious place that we discovered for ourselves (and perhaps not only for ourselves) in the village of Tsebelda in Abkhazia. They are located next to the Sukhumi Military Road on the way to the Shakuran Waterfalls, and, apparently, are practically unknown to tourists and even guides. At least, we were not able to find out anything at all about its history, origin, or at least some legend related to this place. And all that we know and will tell you about it is only what we saw during the visit.
A stream flows through the cave, and at the exit from it there is a collection for water in the form of a small pool of stones and concrete. Judging by the fact that we found a basin and personal belongings here, this place is not abandoned, and the locals draw water from here. The water, by the way, is very cold and very clean in appearance, but we did not dare to drink it.
You can enter the cave itself. It is narrow and low, not even everywhere you can stand up to your full height. Along the wall inside there is an artificial conduit in the form of a stream, built, apparently, a very long time ago. But water also flows along the bottom of the cave. We walked 50 meters deep into the cave and came up against a kind of artificial dam to collect water, and to move on, we would have to walk in icy water, we had to turn around. Therefore, we do not know what is further in the depths and how deep it goes. Perhaps there is nothing interesting in its depths, but nevertheless this place intrigues with its obscurity and unexplored nature, so it is recommended for lovers of unexplored tourist places.

🚶 How to get there
The cave and spring are located in the village of Tsebelda, also known as Tsabal, 32 kilometers along the Sukhumi military road to Shakuransky waterfall (cave and source on the map). You can get here only by your own transport or with an individual excursion, but as we understand, even the guides don't know about this place yet.
There is a more or less normal asphalt leading to the village, and here it just ends, and after that a difficult-to-overcome road leads to the Shakuransky waterfall. But to get to the cave and the source, you do not need to go further. Park the car in the center of the village opposite the entrance to the military unit and near the store, there is a large parking area. You only need to go further on foot. Go strictly according to the coordinates that we specified on the map above. To do this, you can upload points to offline maps like maps.me , organic maps, etc. You need to walk along the street between abandoned houses and farms and along the electric poles 700 meters strictly according to the navigator, or until you see this electric pole, this is the only landmark which we managed to determine here:
Here you will need to find a path to the left and down, it is hidden in the tall grass. Another 30 meters, and you will get to the entrance to the cave and to the source.
💥 We remind you that it is much more interesting to get acquainted with the sights with the help of excursions, and therefore we advise you to look at online booking options on these proven search and price comparison sites:
