Description and is it worth a visit
Cu Chi Tunnels is an interesting sightseeing destination in Ho Chi Minh City and a popular place to get acquainted with the history of the country. They are located outside the city about 55 kilometers away, and although you can get to them yourself by taxi or public transport, visiting as part of an excursion may be cheaper and more convenient.
The Cu Chi tunnel network became legendary in the 1960s, due to its role in ensuring the control of the Viet Cong over a large rural area located only 30-40 km from Saigon. In its heyday, the tunnel system stretched from the capital of South Vietnam to the Cambodian border, and there are 250 km of tunnels in the Cu Chi district alone. This network, located at several levels of depth, includes countless secret entrances, specially built living quarters, warehouses, weapons workshops, field hospitals, control centers and food outlets.
All this can be seen during a visit to the complex. You can climb through the tunnels (not recommended for those suffering from claustrophobia); get acquainted with the brutal guerrilla traps; inspect the damaged military equipment that actually participated in the battles. There is also a shooting range, for an additional fee you can shoot from automatic and large-caliber weapons. In general, in our opinion, this is one of the attractions that must be visited from Ho Chi Minh City.

🚶 How to get there
The Cu Chi Tunnels are located 40 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City. A taxi for an all-day excursion trip will cost about US$40. It is cheaper and more convenient to buy tickets for a group excursion costing from 400,000 VND at any local travel agency, which includes round-trip delivery by tourist bus, guide and entrance tickets. Also, theoretically, during the day it is possible to go to the tunnels on local buses with a transfer, but we have not done such a route, so we cannot tell you in detail and reliably.
