Description and is it worth visiting
The Thanh Ha Pottery Village (Thanh Ha) is located a couple of kilometers from Hoi An, and the museum "Terracotta Park" or Terracotta Park is also located there. Both the village and the museum are tourist attractions and can be visited either together or separately.
The village is located on a small peninsula formed by river bends and has long been famous for its pottery craft. It is believed that local artisans have achieved such mastery in making pottery that they can create almost anything from clay. You can see for yourself if you go to this village.
You can visit it with a tour from Hoi An by bus or boat. Don't be surprised that in the village you will see few European tourists, but there are many Chinese; they are brought in huge tourist groups, so many inexpensive group tours are designed for them. But if you can't find such a tour in English, you can visit the village independently by bicycle, taxi, or rented transport. You can even get there on foot, but it's a 3-kilometer walk from the center of Hoi An.
In the center of the village, there is a ticket office; another ticket office is near the pier. The main road from Hoi An leads to the ticket offices, so you won't miss it. Here you can buy tickets to visit the village, but it's not mandatory. You can visit the village for free, but with a purchased ticket, you can visit several pottery workshops where they will show and tell you about pottery craftsmanship, the technology of which hasn't changed for several centuries. You can even try making a souvenir with your own hands at master classes, but this is for an additional fee. A map of the workshops is given when purchasing tickets.
The "Terracotta Park" museum is located not far from the ticket office, but it is visited with separate tickets, which are sold at its entrance. The museum houses a huge collection of craft items, but besides countless pots and other household utensils of all shapes and sizes, there is a whole section of miniatures of famous architectural structures from around the world. Here you will find the Sydney Opera House, the Colosseum, the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, and even a copy of a structure from Russia, but which one, you'll find out when you visit.
🕐 Opening Hours
From 08:00 to 17:30, seven days a week.
