Description and is it worth a visit
Ba Da Temple (Ba Da Pagoda) is a modest but revered Buddhist temple located in the heart of tourist Hanoi, next to the Lake of the Returned Sword. Despite its historical significance, it remains little known among tourists – many pass by without even noticing it.
The temple has an ancient history: according to one version, it was founded in the XI century, according to another – in the XV century, after the locals discovered a stone statue of a woman (hence its name – "Stone Lady" or Stone Lady Pagoda). Later, the temple was destroyed and restored more than once, and some of the surviving artifacts, such as bronze bells, date back to the XIX century.
Today, the temple remains operational and serves as the headquarters of the Hanoi Buddhist Association. Inside there is a traditional layout for Vietnamese pagodas: statues of Buddha and his disciples are placed in the front hall, and local deities are located in the depths.
It is worth a look here if you have already visited the main attractions in the center of Hanoi. The temple is quiet, sparsely populated and gives you the opportunity to see an authentic Buddhist atmosphere away from the tourist bustle.
