Beer in Vietnam - the most popular alcoholic drink, and the locals begin to drink it almost in the morning. It is sold and bottled everywhere, there are local varieties and imported beer. The variety of varieties is not as large as we have in the Russian Federation, but in general there is a choice, and the taste is acceptable.
Most often, beer in Vietnam is sold in aluminum cans of 0.33 liters, less often in bottles of 0.5 and 0.6 liters, and very rarely in plastic bottles. In general, beer in a plastic bottle we (the authors of the site) met only once in the Intimex supermarket in Hanoi, and did not come across anywhere else.
The cost of beer
- Bank 0,33 L – - from 8200 VND (approximately 0.31 USD, see Vietnam's currency and exchange rate) in an economy supermarket, in street stores from 10,000 (approximately 0.38 USD).
- A bottle of 0.5 liters. - from 15,000 VND (approximately 0.65 USD).
- 1L plastic bottle – 17,000 VND (approx. 0.65 USD).
What is good, the mark-up in cafes and restaurants for beer is small, and sometimes it is not at all.
There are not very many brands of local beer. Almost all over the country, "333", "Larue", "Viet Hai" (some of the cheapest and not very tasty), "Hanoi" and "Saigon" (a little more expensive and better), and Singha (from Singapore) are sold. Also, different regions have their own local beer, for example Lao Cai (in Lao Cai and Sapa), Hai Phong (in Haiphong and on Catba Island).
Light draft beer is also common, but it is not sold at retail. Usually mini-breweries of draft beer work in cafes and restaurants, it costs from 6000 VND for a 0.5 liter mug. It is called draft beer-Bia Hoi, and on such signs it can be found.
