Description and is it worth a visit
Kottawa rain forest and Basin (Kottawa Reserve Forest) is only a couple dozen kilometers away from Unawatuna and Galle. It is little popular and even almost unknown among tourists, since it is far from a national park with exotic animals and prepared picturesque interesting routes. But if you have never been to the tropical jungle (the Rumassala forest in Unawatuna does not count), and there is no way to go to a real national park, here you can satisfy your curiosity at least a little. Here you can hardly see exotic animals, as a maximum you will see insects and birds, but tropical vegetation is in abundance. There is also a swimming pool equipped for swimming, filled with cool water from the stream.
Although there is a conditional ticket office and signs with the proposed routes, everything has long been abandoned, and no one will take money for the entrance from you, there is simply no one to do it. You can safely drive a little deeper into the forest on a motorcycle or leave it in the parking lot by the road, and go for a walk in the forest yourself. However, he does not forget about safety, including transport. Nearby there are always enough local kids who, simply out of harmfulness, can do something with Transport. So it is better to leave the transport on the site along the road, where large buses park.
If you drive a little further along the road after the forest, about 600 meters (at the fork you need to turn right), you can see a tea plantation and a specialized tea shop.
