Description and is it worth a visit
This museum (Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Museum Complex) is also known as the Local History Museum Koggale, however, is primarily a museum-estate of the famous writer and literary figure Martin Wickramasinghe (1891 - 1977). This is one of the few museums in the south (other museums in the south can only be found in Galle), and very worthy. Here the writer was born and raised.
The museum is a whole complex with a territory and several buildings, and is divided into 5 main sections: the house where the writer was born; the Hall of life; the Samadhi Meditation Center; the Museum of folk culture and environmental restoration. The exhibition includes objects of everyday life of Lankans, works of art and crafts, costumes, and, of course, wooden dolls and masks. Many of the exhibits are personal belongings of the writer. The garden of the estate is also interesting. There is also a shop that sells books by the writer, including in Russian.
