Description and is it worth a visit
Another cemetery Commonwealth War Cemetery in Kandy can be interesting for tourists. Previously it was called Pitakande Military Cemetery. Soldiers of various nationalities and faiths who died from 1939 to 1945 during the defence of Sri Lanka in World War II are buried here. In total, there are 196 graves, among which are British, Africans, Lankans, Indians, Canadians, Italians and one Frenchman. It may seem strange that the cemetery is considered a landmark, but it is very well maintained and beautiful. There are always fresh flowers on the graves, and often you can see Europeans who have come to honor the memory of their relatives or fellow countrymen.
