Description and is it worth a visit
Royal Botanic Gardens Peradenia (Peradenia Royal Botanical Gardens) is the largest and most beautiful botanical garden in Sri Lanka. The history of its foundation dates back to Royal times: the first Royal Park appeared here back in 1747.
On the territory of 60 hectares there is a huge number of exotic plants, more than 4000 in total: trees, shrubs, flowers, spices. All types of plants are marked with signs, plus a colorful map-guide is issued at the entrance indicating the individual gardens of the park and their features, although only in English. And there are many such Gardens here: the garden of flowers; the garden of orchids; the avenue of Royal Palms; the House of cacti; the garden of spices and much more. If you do not know English, you can print this list of gardens, it corresponds to the map:

It is simply impossible to come to Kandy and not visit the Botanical Garden, unless you, of course, have visited other botanical gardens in Southeast Asia. They even come here specifically from other resorts, although the easiest way to visit it is from Kandy. A cursory inspection will take at least 2 hours, and if you inspect everything in more detail, you can spend the whole day unnoticed, so it is best to plan a visit to Peradenia at least half a day with the road. Inside the territory there is a very expensive cafe, but you can carry water and something to eat with you.

A trip by tuk-tuk will cost 700 rupees, by taxi 1500. If time permits, together in the garden you can visit another of the attractions in the vicinity: an elephant nursery, a tea museum or a military cemetery.
