Description and is it worth a visit
On one of the hills overlooking the the city of Kandy, there is a large statue of Buddha sitting in the lotus position. It is visible from almost anywhere in the city, as the statue itself "sees" the whole city in the palm of your hand. This is the Buddhist temple of Bahirawa Kandy with its 27 meter statue. The temple is quite traditional, and would be nothing particularly remarkable if it were not for this largest statue in Kandy, and beautiful views of the city center from a height of 600 meters, which is 100 meters higher than the center itself. But in cloudy weather you should not climb here, the views will be hidden by a haze.
