Description and is it worth a visit
About a kilometer east of Viharamadevi Park in Colombo is the Buddhist temple of Sri Sambodhi Maha Viharaya (Sri Sambodhi Maha Viharaya). Its structure consists of five tiers, has several outbuildings and a beautiful inner green courtyard with Buddha figures and a Bodhi tree.
It is one of the most interesting temples in Colombo, and perhaps the most important Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka. This is even a whole complex, and not just a temple. Admission is free.
In addition to the traditional Sri Lankan temples of the Bodhi tree and many statues of the Buddha, Buddhist television and radio are located on the territory. At a certain time, you can catch shooting TV shows. The theme of the programs is aimed at promoting and spreading among the Buddhist population the teachings of the Dharma (certain foundations and rules of life), so there are always a lot of people here. At the main entrance there is a cafe, an ATM, a shop with religious avenues.
