Seema Malakaya Meditation Center

Description and is it worth a visit

In the eastern part of the small lake Colombo Biera there are three Seema Malakaya meditation pavilions belonging to Gangaramaya Temple. The central pavilion is connected to the shore by a wooden bridge, and the other two pavilions branch off, in turn, from the central one. In the main and largest of all the pavilions there is a temple on the water, and inside it there are images and statues of the Buddha, and people come here to pray and meditate. Around the perimeter it is surrounded by numerous bronze statues of Buddha. Moving from the temple to the open pavilion located on the left, the sacred Bodhi tree and four images of Brahmins, as well as a low white Stupa, will appear on the platform. On the right side of the temple there is another pavilion, but, unfortunately, it is often closed and its purpose is not known to us. In the evenings, the entire Meditation Center is beautifully illuminated.

It is not necessary to meditate while visiting this place. Tourists most often just come here to relax a little and admire the views of the most beautiful Buddha statues in Colombo. The best time to visit the center is at sunset (about 18 hours). Moreover, it is worth waiting for darkness to see how the center is beautifully illuminated by lights, and after that you can go to see the Gangaramaya Temple, which is also very beautiful in the dark. The best time to photograph the center is early morning.
