Sit Boo Said

A fabulous place in the east of Tunisia in the suburbs of the capital is the town of Sidi Bou Said. It attracts a large number of tourists, first of all, with its amazing color. White walls of houses with blue windows and doors intricately studded with iron, pink flowering vines framing the walls of houses, and cobblestone narrow paths create a unique atmosphere. It is not surprising that artists, poets and writers loved and love to create here, and also several scenes of the feature film "Angelica and the Sultan" were shot in this place. The main street – the business card of Sidi Bou Said, captured in numerous photos, leads up the slope, from where a stunning view of the Gulf of Tunis opens. Walking along the streets, you can find shops selling paintings, carpets, ceramics, souvenirs, sit and relax in one of the cafes.

Visiting Sidi Bou Said is mainly carried out through group excursions, including – Tunis-Sidi Bou Said-Carthage. But, if you have enough time, then we will note some more interesting places located within the main walking street of the town:

  • Dar el Annabi is a rather informative and interesting Museum dating back to the XVIII century, and belongs to Taib El Annabi, the son of one of the political figures of Tunisia. The architecture of the house is attributed to the traditional Arabic style. The house has many rooms, halls, a library, as well as a large garden. Not all rooms are open for inspection, because part of the house is occupied by its owner. The interior of the house recreates the life of a Tunisian family.
