Zoos and dolphinariums in Nizhny Novgorod

In Nizhny Novgorod there are several zoos and even a dolphinarium. Which one to choose depends on how much you are willing to pay and how much you and your kids are interested in it. In addition to the usual zoos, there are several other places where you can take children to meet and communicate with animals: a petting zoo, an exotarium, a butterfly exhibition, etc. We tried to bring information about all these places into one table, as well as a brief description of each of these places to facilitate the choice of where to bring children during a tourist trip to Nizhny Novgorod.

• Limpopo Zoo

  

  It is the biggest and Best Zoo in the city and it is a private zoo. If you have to take a child somewhere, then to this zoo, though the price is high here: 600 rubles against 150 in others. On the territory of almost 6 hectares there are more than 220 species of animals and birds, playgrounds for children, a mother and Child room (paid), everything is clean and well-groomed. Of the minuses, perhaps, only the high price, remoteness from the center, and not a very large area and number of animals, when compared with the Moscow Zoo.   🚶 How to get there: the zoo is located on the outskirts of the city, Yaroshenko STR., 7 "B" (Limpopo Zoo on the map. The entrance is from Yaroshenko Street and there is an additional entrance from Sormovsky Park through the bridge. It is not difficult to get here by public transport, but it will take quite a long time to go from the tourist center. By bus No. 12, minibus No. 21 to the Stop "Zoo"; by trams No. 6 and 7 to the stop "Chernyakhovsky Street"; by bus №№3, 45, 57, 65, minibus taxis №№20, 33, 65, 76, 78, trolleybuses No. 3, 15 to the stop "Sormovsky park of culture" and then 5 minutes on foot. In front of the entrance there is parking for private cars.

• Madagascar Zoo

  

  This zoo is much smaller than the nearby Limpopo, but the entrance price will cost only 200 rubles (50 Club card + 150 entrance). There are few large animals here, only Tigers, a lion and a camel. The rest of the animals are small, but there is a "contact zoo" where children can pet and cuddle animals. The environment is clean, cages and animals are well-groomed. Two variants of excursion programs are offered when recruiting a group of at least 10 people with a duration of 40 minutes. In general, we can say that this is a zoo for the youngest children, and with those that are older, it is still better to go to the Limpopo.

• Exotarium

  

  This is not exactly a zoo, but rather an exhibition of exotic animals. Although pets huddle in small basements of the House of culture, the impressions of the visit will remain for a long time, especially if you have never been to such places. Among the exhibits are amphibians and reptiles, beautiful exotic birds and creepy insects. Children are always delighted with visiting the exhibition, although some are a little afraid at first.

• Dolphinarium "Atlantis"

  

  Despite the fact that Nizhny Novgorod is a thousand kilometers from the nearest sea, there is a dolphinarium, and the quality of the show is at a height. Along with the performances, additional services are offered: dolphin therapy, a photo session and swimming with dolphins. If you and your children have never been to the Dolphinarium at sea, then you should definitely take advantage of this opportunity in Nizhny Novgorod.

• Live corners in Tsum

  

  In the shopping center Tsum you can watch several species of animals, including exotic ones, for free. There are fish, Python, skids, turtle, iguana, and even black-finned shark. All you need to do is come to the mall and walk around it.

• Petting zoo "Planet Of The Little Prince" in the shopping center "Crimea"

  

  Another petting zoo is located in the shopping center "Crimea". According to the authors, this is an educational center with a contact zoo, focused on teaching a child to love, understand and care from the earliest childhood. Here, too, you can touch, stroke, feed animals. There are rabbits, chinchillas, guinea pigs, Hedgehog, goat, chickens, geese, hedgehogs, ferrets, turtles, etc.

  Another petting zoo, and conveniently, is located almost in the very tourist center, on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street, although not in its pedestrian part, but a little further from the center. More than 120 animals that can be touched, stroked, picked up, fed. There are raccoons, Fox, monkey, meerkats.
