Prices for accommodation in decent hostels start from 500 rubles per bed, but you can find it for 300 rubles, but it will be a "bedbug" with unsanitary conditions and no hot water. A room for two in a good hotel will cost from 3000 rubles. The apartment can be rented from 1500 rubles per day. During almost any holidays, the price rises, it is difficult to find free apartments. On New Year's holidays, may weekends and other holidays, prices may double.

Keep in mind that most hotels in Nizhny Novgorod do not have an official "Star" qualification. But its absence does not mean that the hotel is bad. Just many budget hotels do not bother to assign a category, so when choosing you should rely on the rating from guests and read their reviews in search and booking systems.

If you want to save money and maintain comfort, then it makes sense to stay in a rented apartment for a short time. If you are traveling with children, then renting an apartment is generally the best option, since the number of rooms in hotels mainly consists of double rooms. Choosing an area and where to stay in Nizhny Novgorod

Nizhny Novgorod is a fairly large city. It is divided by the Oka River into two parts and consists of 8 districts, so tourists have a reasonable question, in which place it is best to stay during a tourist trip.

We (the authors of the site) for a tourist trip recommend only two areas to stop:

• Historical center (in Nizhny Novgorod district)

  The best place for accommodation is, of course, the Tourist Area (Historical Center), which is centered around the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin in the Nizhny Novgorod district (Kremlin on the map). It is advisable to stay in such a place that the Kremlin and the main pedestrian street Bolshaya Pokrovskaya can be reached on foot in 10-15 minutes (Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street on the map). The ideal option is to stay in general along the Pedestrian Street Bolshaya Pokrovskaya, but the prices there are much higher than even a 10-minute walk. Please note that in the tourist area, especially along Bolshaya Pokrovskaya, there are not very many supermarkets and the usual inexpensive shops with products.

  

• Area of the railway station and Metro Station "Moskovskaya" (in the Moscow district)

  If the budget is very limited, you can look for accommodation in other areas, but consider the proximity to public transport. It is best, of course, to settle near the Metro. A good option is the area of the railway station, which is a kind of commercial center (concentration of markets, shopping centers, supermarkets). In addition, there is a metro station "Moskovskaya", from which to the Metro" Gorkovskaya "on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya is just one stop and a few minutes drive. But there are practically no sights in the building, there is nowhere to walk, except for shopping.

If you plan to come to Nizhny Novgorod by car, then the recommendations for choosing the area remain the same, since moving around the center by private car will be rather inconvenient due to the lack of parking, and not as interesting as on foot. However, be sure to check the parking issues before ordering a room/booking an apartment, as this is a big problem here, especially in the tourist area.
