What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
This small Sudak Museum of local lore is located in the building of an architectural monument, a historic mansion of the former Funk dacha.
Fyodor Fedorovich Funk was the manager of the estate of Prince Konstantin Alekseevich Gorchakov "Arkhaderesse". The two-storey Funk mansion was built in 1913, and in December 1930 the building was transferred to the seaport, after which it belonged to the Feodosiya and Yalta seaports in different years. In 1996, the building was badly damaged by a fire. After the reconstruction carried out in 2005, the building housed an exposition on the history of Sudak.
The main exposition is small, it is placed in only three rooms on the ground floor of the building, and even a thorough inspection of all the exhibits will hardly take more than half an hour. Nevertheless, it is here that you can get an initial idea of the history of the region, including the village of Novy Svet and the life of Count Golitsyn, the creator of Russian champagne. On the second floor there is a temporary exposition, the exhibitions on which are changing. Her visit is also included in the entrance fee.
