Memorial House-Museum of Alexander Stepanovich Green (1880-1932) in the Old Crimea is the place where the writer, novelist and poet spent his last days of his life, the author of world-famous works – the story "Scarlet Sails" and the novel "Running on the Waves". This house was bought shortly before the death of A.S. Green, he lived here for only one month and died of stomach cancer.
Green is buried at the Starokrymsky cemetery, his grave there is easily recognizable by the sculpture of a girl Running on the waves. Also, fans of hiking will be interested to know that there is a dirt trail from the city of Old Crimea to Koktebel, which is called the "Green trail". It got its name for a real historical fact. The fact is that the writer was friends with the artist and poet M.A. Voloshin, who lived in Koktebel, and visited him on foot along this road. It starts from Partizanskaya Street in the Old Crimea and leads to Koktebel, the length is about 15 kilometers.
The main role in the creation of the museum was played by his widow Nina Nikolaevna Green, who became the prototype of the main character Assol in the story "Scarlet Sails". Thanks to her efforts, a memorial room was opened in the house in 1934, but the Great Patriotic War prevented the creation of a full-fledged museum. Nina Nikolaevna was exiled to Germany to work, and when she returned, she was convicted, accused of treason, and exiled to the camps. Miraculously surviving, in 1956, she returned to the Old Crimea and continued her work on recreating the museum that had been lost over the years. In 1960 the museum was opened.
The museum exposition is small, includes a house and a garden. The furnishings of the house are very modest, three rooms with personal items, belongings and photographs of the writer are presented for inspection. We recommend visiting the museum with a guide, since it will be almost impossible to understand and learn about A.S. Green only from the exhibits presented, and it will be uninteresting. Adults – 150 rubles, children from 16 to 18 years – 100 rubles, children under 16 years – free of charge. Excursion service with an entrance ticket: adult – 300 rubles, children from 16 to 18 years – 250 rubles, up to 16 years - 150 rubles. Every third Thursday of the month is free for children from 16 to 18 years old, college students. The Pushkin card is valid.
There is a single ticket to visit all 5 museums included in the complex of the Voloshin Museum-Reserve – Voloshin House Museum in Koktebel, Green House Museum in the Old Crimea, Paustovsky House Museum in the Old Crimea, Marina and Anastasia Tsvetaeva Museum in Feodosia, and Literary and Art Museum in the Old Crimea. Tickets can be purchased at any of these museums, and visit all expositions within 14 days from the date of purchase.
An adult with an excursion – 1400 rubles, pensioners and children from 16 to 18 years old with an excursion – 1100 rubles, children under 16 years old with an excursion – 500 rubles.
There is a single ticket for visiting only 3 museums in the city of Old Crimea or a single ticket Starokrymsky, including the house Museum of A.S. Green, the house Museum of A.S. Green and the Literary and Art Museum. Tickets can be purchased at any of the museums.
