Interesting places of Simferopol

Article and Section Navigation

Simferopol is the largest city of the Crimean Peninsula and its capital, an important transport and industrial center. But due to the lack of access to the sea, Simferopol over the past hundred years has reliably strengthened in the status of a transshipment point on the way to the Black Sea.

In any city there is something to see and the capital of Taurida is no exception. If your plane or train leaves only in the evening, and in the city you are already early in the morning, then do not waste time sitting in the waiting room – explore Simferopol and its surroundings!

Some of the places discussed in the article are simply little known, some are abandoned, and some have been classified for a long time! But they are all interesting in their own way for a tourist and a sightseeing tour of at least a couple of them will allow you to perfectly pass the time and see or try something new.

Caves Of Chatyr-Dag.

It is only necessary to drive a little away from Simferopol itself and the Chatyr-Dag Ridge will open to the eyes of travelers. Near Simferopol, of particular interest are unique caves, which can only be accessed by members of the excursion group. The marble cave and Emine-Bair-Khosar are deservedly considered one of the most beautiful in all of Europe. Just imagine: the length of the marble – 200 meters, and the height of the arches-about 30 meters.

Fishing village.

Tickets to Crimea buy, as a rule, for the sake of rest. An authentic village near the city gives you the opportunity to fish in the pond, steam in the bath, ride a horse and even hunt in the adjacent forest. A great place to spend the day!

Golf Club.

In Crimea, so far there is only one decent golf club and is open 15 minutes from Simferopol, in the tract of Kizil-Koba. It does not reach the level of European and American fields, of course, but if you are a beginner, you will not feel much difference.

Bike Post.

On the 41st kilometer of the Simferopol-Alushta highway for more than 10 years there has been a gathering point for bikers, where they spend the night, communicate and repair their motorcycles. In the afternoon you can look at the chic bikes of all models and modifications, and in the evening you can see how real men walk. But this entertainment is not for children and women!

Abandoned military facilities.

If you are interested in this topic, then the vicinity of Simferopol can offer at least two interesting directions. If you drive a little to the west of Simferopol, you can find the transmitter IFRNS "Chaika", which is 5 masts with a height of 120 meters each. Its purpose was to detect the coordinates of enemy aircraft and ships with an accuracy of 50 meters at a distance of up to 1900 kilometers. Be careful as the masts are energized for the sake of protection from sawing.

Well, if you go to the northwest of the city, you will find the TNA-400 radio telescope in the school.

A reflector with a diameter of 32 meters was installed on a foundation with a height of about 30 meters in 1957 to ensure the launch of spacecraft to the Moon. Even flights to the planets of the solar system were planned! Today, the radio telescope is under protection, and it will not be possible to come close, but because of the fence it looks very impressive.
