Interesting and unusual sights of Mishor include two sculptural compositions interconnected with each other, one of which is a symbol of Mishor and is depicted on souvenirs - a sculpture of a Mermaid and a fountain "The Girl of Arza and the robber Ali Baba". They are located 50 meters from each other in the area of Rusalka beach: the Mermaid sculpture is in the sea, and the Arza fountain is on the shore. A very sad legend is connected with their origin.
Do not be surprised that when viewed from the shore, the Mermaid has two legs, and not the usual tail. For some reason, the sculptor decided to depict her in such an immodest way: with a naked pelvis and legs, turning into a tail. The tail can be seen if you swim closer to the mermaid, but usually it is hidden under water.
Legend has it that a long time ago there lived in Mishor a poor young man Abiy-Aka and a beautiful girl Arza, who loved each other, but they could not get married because of the poverty of the guy. Arzy was lovely, slender and she was noticed by the fountain, where the girl went to get water, by the old man Ali Baba. He began to come there often, to admire her. Lovers also met here. Once Abiy-Aka came to ask his father for Arza's hand in marriage, but his father refused him, considering him no match, and gave him one year to make the guy richer. A year has passed, Abiy-Aka worked hard and was able to fulfill his father's condition. It's time for the wedding. For the last time, Arzy came to her fountain to say goodbye to her old life. And at that moment she was captured by the robbers of the old man Ali Baba and sent to a ship that was going to Turkey. Having sailed to the Turkish coast, in Istanbul the old man sold the girl to the Turkish Sultan in the harem. After living there for a year, she could not fall in love with the sultan, but gave birth to his heir son. I was very homesick for my homeland, loved ones and Abiy-Aka. Having met by chance with a merchant who sailed from his native place, the girl found out that the fountain had dried up after her disappearance, and her beloved with grief rushed into the sea. Arza could not survive this and one day, taking her son, she rushed into the sea. Since then, every spring, a Mermaid comes to the shore with a boy in her arms and sits for a long time, as if waiting for someone, and with the sunrise sails back to the sea.
