Relaxing on the beach in Mishor
Holidays in Mishor (Koreiz)

Mishor is a small resort village on the Black Sea coast in Big Yalta, one of the southernmost beach resorts in Crimea (Mishor on the map of Crimea). Mishor is famous among all the resorts of the Crimea for its special mild and warm climate, which is due to the fact that it is located on the seashore and protected from the northern winds by Ai-Petri mountain.

Sometimes there is confusion with the name and location of the resort villages Mishor and Koreiz, and some guidebooks describe them as independent resorts and neighboring villages. In fact, everything is simple: Mishor and Koreiz are the same resort within the same borders. The fact is that Mishor was once an independent resort village, but in the middle of the past it was included in another village of Koreiz, and now it is one whole, and our guide tells equally about holidays in Koreiz and Mishor.

If you have read a lot of commercial guidebooks that glorify Mishor as a magnificent and most popular beach resort on almost the entire Black Sea coast, we immediately want to sober you up a little. Yes, the resort is not bad, but the high-flown advertising descriptions in the case of Mishor do not correspond to reality. There are features here that not every tourist will like. Moreover, in our opinion, this place is generally contraindicated for young people and sophisticated tourists, since it will almost certainly cause a lot of negativity. Therefore, in order not to spoil your vacation with unjustified expectations, we advise you to first get acquainted with the main pros and cons of the resort:

The advantages of a holiday in Mishor (Koreiz)

  • Mishor has fairly clean and clear water
  • This is not only a beach resort, but also a climatic resort due to clean air and a large number of green spaces
  • It has a quiet, peaceful environment (if that's what you're looking for on vacation)
  • Not far from the center of Yalta, you can go there during the day to walk and have fun
  • There are sandy beaches here

Cons of holidays in Mishor (Koreiz)

  • There are few attractions and entertainment, except for beach holidays, there is nothing much to do
  • Access to a part of the public beaches of Mishor is illegally blocked by sanatoriums
  • The whole coast is divided by breakwaters, it will not work to walk along the water
  • The promenade along the main beach is old and broken, requires complete reconstruction
  • The condition of the beaches, the promenade and the resort as a whole is not pleasing to the eye, repairs and reconstruction are required everywhere

By listing the minuses of the resort, we are not at all trying to denigrate it or dissuade you from going on vacation to Mishor. But these are objective shortcomings that cannot be put anywhere, and therefore it remains to put up with them on vacation. But in fairness it should be said that there really is no other such place in Crimea, it is unique in its own way. Most of the village is occupied by a magnificent, drowning with subtropical greenery Mishorsky Park. Of course, he would also like some repairs of footpaths and arrangement of evening lighting, it's a pleasure to walk here during the day. Many more vacationers like the fact that there is a lot of space on the beaches even at the height of the season, and you can even find secluded places behind rocks or concrete where there will be no one but you, and this is almost in the center of the resort village, which is rare. Well, the kids here will definitely like, albeit small, but the only sandy beaches in Big Yalta.

Beaches in Koreiz and Mishor

Top Internet guides are full of descriptions of the splendor of the beaches of Mishor and Koreiz. In fact, judging objectively, it's a stretch to assign them a three on a five-point scale, there are too many flaws here. In our opinion, they can cause real delight only among the most unassuming vacationers.

All beaches in Mishor are publicly accessible and free of charge, but there are difficulties with access to them due to the lawlessness of local sanatoriums. So, the beaches of the sanatorium "Belorussia", Respect Hall and Ai-Petri, occupied almost the entire western (right) part of the shore in Mishor along Mishorsky Park. Officially, they are publicly accessible, as evidenced by city signs with a description at their entrances. But it's not so easy for the givers to break through to the shore from the outside. Sanatoriums have installed their own signs at the entrances with warnings about the ban on entry, the guards "drive away" those who want to come here, block the passages with temporary obstacles to the point that they force them with chairs and tables. In fact, you can go to these beaches, you just need to point the guards at the same official city signs, but most vacationers do not know this and pass by.

A lot of questions are caused by the condition of the embankment and concrete fortifications on the main city beach. Not everyone will like the close proximity to the pier. If you do not believe in the sad state of the Mishor beaches, look at these real photos:

Nevertheless, despite these obvious problems with Mishor beaches, many vacationers come back here again and again, and there are reasons for this too. There is clean water here, and some beaches even have sand. The famous Mishorsky Park stretches along the coast, and nearby is the center of Yalta with its entertainment. In general, Mishor has everything you need for a relaxing holiday by the sea, and if you don't have a "thing" about the grooming and beauty of the beaches, then maybe you will like it here. Infrastructure

Mishor and Koreiz cannot be called a developed urban resort in any way, it is just a small village with the most basic urban and tourist infrastructure. Most of the coastal or resort area of the village is occupied by Miskhorsky Park and the territories of old sanatoriums since the Soviet era. Labyrinths of narrow streets and roads wind between all this, sometimes even without sidewalks, and there is simply no center of the district with shops and markets here. The main area for vacationers is the area of the city beach and a very old promenade along it, where there are several cafes, kebabs and canteens. There you can also buy excursions and boat trips departing from the local marina, and the most necessary goods for recreation.

Drinks and groceries can be bought in one of several small shops that are scattered in different parts of the village. Today, these shops have already become quite modern self-service markets and accept bank cards, in particular, it is convenient to make purchases in the stores of the new Neighbors retail chain. But you will not find large chain supermarkets in Mishor. Fresh fruits are sold near the embankment and at the seasonal mini-market on the main street Alupkinskoe highway.

Hotels and accommodation in Koreiz and Mishor, where to stay

Mishor is a small resort, however, despite this, there is quite a wide variety of accommodation options. If you want, you can stay on vacation in one of the local sanatoriums or boarding houses, choose a 3 or 4 star hotel, or stay in an inexpensive mini-hotel or guest house. There is also private housing for rent, which is usually the most profitable, especially if you need to settle down as a family. But in high season, all options are quickly "disassembled", so if possible, it is better to book a month or two before the start of the season.

Weather and tourist seasons in Mishor, when is the best time to go

  • The tourist season in Mishor begins in May, the first tourists begin to come here already on May holidays. But you need to understand that usually this month you can only sunbathe here. Although there are desperate tourists who climb into the water already in early May, in fact the water is still too cold for comfortable bathing.
  • A full-fledged bathing season, when the water warms up and hot weather sets in, begins in mid-June. Well, the peak of the season, when it is very hot, and there is pleasant warm water in the sea, takes place from July and August.
  • September is a velvet season and a great time for those who want to relax and at the same time save a little. The air temperature is gradually decreasing, but the sea is still warm and suitable for swimming, and under the sun you can sunbathe perfectly. But prices are falling at this time, and the number of vacationers is greatly reduced. You can stay on vacation even until the first half of October, but it already depends specifically on the weather that will be established during this period.

How to get to Mishor and Koreiz

The village of Koreiz, also known as Mishor resort, is located 20 kilometers from the center of Yalta and about 120 kilometers from Simferopol airport (Koreiz (Mishor) on the map of Crimea). Since it is part of the Greater Yalta and there is no own bus station, almost all the ways here lead through a large bus station in Yalta. Therefore, in addition to this instruction, we also advise you to read the detailed article how and how to get to Yalta on your own.

Koreiz has its own small bus station, which is called the Mishor resort. This is a small pavilion at 10 Alupkinskoe shosse Street (Mishora bus station on the map), where you can buy tickets departing from almost any city in Crimea, as well as tickets for very rare direct flights to the airport and to the Simferopol railway station. There is no building or waiting room at the bus station. The ticket office of the bus station is open from 08:00 to 17:00 with a lunch break from 12:00 to 12:45, the phone number for inquiries is 8 (3654) 24-23-61.

Instead of getting involved with the difficulties of an independent trip to Mishor, we advise you to first check the prices for ready-made tours with included airfare. Sometimes such tours are even cheaper than a separate booking + airfare, purchased independently, especially if you buy a tour in advance or "catch" hot prices. You can find and book a holiday in Mishor at no extra charge directly from tour operators on these Russian tour search and booking sites:

If you still decide to get to Koreiz on your own, then from the cities and regions of the Russian Federation it can be done through the main transport hub of the Crimea – Simferopol, where the nearest airport and railway station are located. Simferopol, in turn, has no difficulty getting from most major cities and regions of the Russian Federation by plane or train. Especially a lot of additional flights are launched during the tourist season, but prices are also rising, so if you need to save money, it is better to purchase tickets in advance.

  • 🚆 You can search for train tickets to Crimea at Tutu.ru or on the company carrier's website Grand Service Express
  • ✈ We advise you to search for the most profitable flights to Crimea on the website of the Russian search engine Aviasales

Attractions and entertainment in Mishor and Koreiz

The list of attractions and tourist attractions in Mishor and Koreiz is quite modest. It includes the Dulber Palace and the Yusupov Palace, the Mishorsky Park and the Rusalka sculpture group and the Arza Fountain. There is also a lower cable car station on Ai-Petri in Mishor, and pleasure boats depart from the local pier. At this point, all the attractions and tourist entertainment available to vacationers directly at the resort itself come to an end. Of course, in addition to the above, there are several other not so significant ancient palaces and historical sights and monuments, but they are inaccessible to most guests of the resort, since they are located on the territories of sanatoriums and boarding houses. And they (sanatoriums) they value the tranquility of their guests so much that they don't let anyone into the territory even for money. Read more about the sights in Mishor and Koreiz and how to visit them, we wrote here.

And therefore, if you can't imagine your vacation without entertainment and attractions, you will have to go on your own or with excursions to other interesting places in the Crimea. If you have your own transport, then all roads are open for you, and you will be able to visit, for example, Bakhchisarai, Sevastopol, Balaklava, Foros, Simferopol, go to the caves of Alushta and much more without any problems during one-day trips. If there is no transport, then you can diversify your vacation with trips to the nearest interesting sights in Bolshaya Yalta, and there is a lot to see. We recommend at least Nikitinsky Botanical Garden, Foros Park, Vorontsov or Livadia Palace, take a walk around the center and the Yalta embankment. We advise you to read our guide to the sights of Yalta, you will find there for yourself many interesting options for trips during the day.

If you are not ready for independent trips, you can buy ready-made excursions. Distributors on the streets and the promenade of Mishor offer group sightseeing trips to almost all corners of the Crimea, their prices are affordable. Excursions are not sent every day, but according to the schedule by day, so we advise you to immediately get acquainted with the schedule from the distributors upon arrival on vacation, so that you have time to decide and book what will be more interesting for you.
