Museum of the history of the Eltigen landing

Museum of the History of the Kerch-Eltigen landing is a small but very informative museum in the Geroevskoye microdistrict (formerly the village of Eltingen) in Kerch. It is dedicated to the period of the Great Patriotic War, in particular the liberation of Crimea from fascist troops.

The museum tells from the landing operation and the battle of the Kerch landing in the former S. Eltingen October 31 to December 11, 1943, called the Kerch-Eltigen amphibious operation. Having landed here and occupying an area of about 5 square kilometers, the airborne troops held the area for 40 days, being practically blockaded, and stubbornly moving towards Kerch. The fighting ended with the withdrawal of our troops, but this operation predetermined the further course of hostilities and the liberation of Kerch and Crimea in April 1944.

The museum began with a small corner of memory organized at the school, and has grown to a full-fledged museum, which was opened on May 8, 1985. In the halls of the museum there are original documents, front-line letters, items of uniforms and weapons, photographs, finds from the battlefields.

It is better to use the services of a guide for inspection, since there is not much material, so only the guide's story can supplement it. However, the tour service will be beneficial when recruiting a group of up to 10 people, otherwise you will have to pay the full cost of the tour 1500 rubles. It is difficult to find those who want to join you, if you are one or two of you, because the museum is small and not very popular among tourists.
