Beaches in Feodosia

Feodosia is a beach resort with good beaches. Unlike most other places on the southern coast of Crimea, it is mostly sand, not pebbles. Another plus is their relative sparseness. Even in the high season, you don't have to push elbows with neighbors along the coast to pave the way to the water. But you should take into account the features of local beaches, especially if you are fastidious about their quality, cleanliness and beauty.

And in some places the beach, unfortunately, is like this

In the very center of Feodosia there is a long pebble City Beach, also called "Pebbles". It is the most developed and crowded, there is also an embankment and a pedestrian street, and almost all the tourist infrastructure. Then there are mixed Sandy and pebble beaches, but experienced beachgoers they can lead to a real depression. There is no continuous coastal strip, and every 150 meters the shore is interrupted by concrete breakwaters and fences. Moreover, some areas are blocked by fences and buildings to restrict tourist access (these are echoes of paid beaches during the leadership of the Ukrainian authorities here), and although you can get there now by overcoming barriers, an unpleasant aftertaste remains. At the joints of the plots there is dirt or impassable concrete blocks, and in some places the water comes just dangerously because of the protruding reinforcement and again concrete and stones.

And in the water there may be pipes

If you move even further north, sandy beaches begin. And at first they are also broken every 150 meters by concrete breakwaters, but outside the city begins a continuous ten-kilometer strip of a wonderful "golden beach", but also has its drawbacks, including a road running along the coast and almost complete lack of infrastructure.

Welcome to the beach, admission is free

And yet, all the beaches of Feodosia are free. To charge a fee for entering the beach under the law of the Russian Federation is illegal!

Useful information about the beaches of Feodosia:

  • Rent a sun lounger and umbrella-100 rubles
  • The longest sandy beach – "Golden Beach"
  • The most fun place and entertainment center are Galeriynaya Street, General Gorbachev Street, paratroopers embankment near Kameshki Beach
  • On the street of General Gorbachev a huge number of cafes and restaurants
  • Along the entire urban coast of Feodosia there is a railway. This is not a big problem, since trains run very rarely, mostly "freight". On the other side of the railway along the embankment of paratroopers stretches a walking street with souvenir shops and exhibitions of street artists

Summing up, I want to give my recommendations on choosing a beach and a place to relax. If you want to relax on a long and conditionally beautiful sandy beach, take long evening walks along the surf, and for this you are ready to sacrifice entertainment and developed infrastructure, then it is best to get out of the city to the "Golden Beach" or to the very outskirts.

If Entertainment is more important to you, then it is best to go to the very center, because there is a lot of entertainment there, and there is a promenade for walking, and the beach is long, well-groomed and safe, but pebbly and very crowded.

Well, the rest of the city... where there is a chain of short "beaches", separated by concrete, piles of garbage and fenced with rusty fences… We simply will not find a reason to recommend you to stay there, unless there is a very cheap hotel or you will be issued a ticket to one of the sanatoriums.

Read further a detailed description of each of the beaches of Feodosia with photos starting from the center to the north, so that you can decide on the choice of a place for a hotel or accommodation:

Some sources on the Internet describe each 150-meter stretch of shore, separated by breakwaters, as a separate beach. We deliberately omit such a detailed description, grouping them into districts, since a detailed description can only confuse you. To choose a place to stay, you just need to have a general idea of each area.
  • Downtown area, city beach (pebbles)

This is the main and longest City Beach, respectively, and is located in the very center (Pebbles Beach on the map). It stretches along the entire embankment of paratroopers for almost a kilometer, from General Gorbachev Street to Gallery, divided every 150 meters by concrete breakwaters (Bunami). The beach is exclusively pebbly of medium and fine size, no sand.

The city beach, like the embankment, is the most developed and crowded place in the city. You can not call it beautiful, and under the water here in some places concrete blocks are hidden, but in the high season there are cafes, drinks, entertainment, sun beds and umbrellas at every turn. People here, however, even more, and to the water literally have to squeeze between the lying bodies.

Thanks to the combination of well-developed infrastructure, lots of entertainment, pedestrian promenade, restaurants and cafes, discos, attractions on Galeriynaya Street, and even if not the most beautiful, but still well-groomed and clean beach, we would recommend staying within Feodosia as close as possible to this place.

If you move further from the center to the North, after "a pebble" will continue a series of beaches with hotels and sanatoriums, mostly mixed Sandy and Pebble. Access to them is open, but they are fenced with fences and Gates.

  • "Lazurnoe coast"

"Lazurnoe coast", although small and could well be lost among dozens of other small beaches of Feodosia, we decided to write in detail about it, so we liked it. If you move from" pebbles "further north past a series of fenced and concreted beaches, to Komsomolsky park, you will eventually get to this sandy and well-groomed stretch of coast, which was called "Lazurnoe coast" (Cote d'ivoire on the map). Its length is barely 200 meters, but it is very well equipped. There is a cafe of the same name, a toilet, a shower, sun beds, a locker room, and even lockers for things. Among the services there is, imagine, even washing vegetables and fruits. All this is provided for money (a chaise longue – 100 rubles a day, a locker for things-10 USD), but if you do not want to pay, you can relax and "savage": the entrance here is not limited, money is not charged. Of course, there is a downside – crowding in high season.

You can get to the "Lazurnoe Coast" on foot from the center, but you can not make this way along the coast, there will be too many obstacles on the way. It is more convenient to get from the center by bus to Komsomolsky Park, and through it go to the beach.

  • Northern beaches/Black Sea embankment

After the "Lazurnoe coast" and Komsomolsky Park begins a series of good sandy beaches (northern beaches on the map) located along the Black Sea embankment. Many of them belong to hotels and sanatoriums, but you can get to almost every one. The further north you go, the less crowded it becomes, but umbrellas, sun beds and cafes do not disappear until the very border of the city. You can quite choose a hotel in this part of the city, if you are not fundamentally close to the center, but silence, tranquility and clean sandy beaches are important. But it is better to settle here directly on the first line, and not on the other side of the railway, otherwise it will be very problematic to get to the shore.

  • Golden Beach

This is a ten-kilometer sandy strip originating on the northern outskirts of Feodosia and stretching to the village of Primorsky (Golden Beach on the map). It is just perfect for lovers of long walks along the coast, because here the coast is not interrupted by fences and breakwaters. Along the entire length, yellow sand is mixed with fragments of shells, but this does not interfere with walking at all. The depth is small everywhere, the bottom is flat, the water is warm, strong waves are rare. In places under water there are large stones, so you should be careful.

There are few people here, and there are completely deserted areas. Near the village Beregovoe, beach club Beach Club 117 and wellness complex and hotel "Golden beach" vacationers more, as well as fun and infrastructure. In general, the infrastructure here is modest, but everything you need in these places is. In high season, traditional water activities, food and drinks are offered.

Of the minuses, it is worth noting the busy highway to Kerch, which runs closely for all 10 kilometers.

To relax on the Golden Beach, it is best to stay in the village of Beregovoye or Primorskiy. But in this case you will find yourself away from the entertainment, attractions and infrastructure of Feodosia. Alternatively, you can come here to rest during the day, which can easily be done by bus number 106 from the center. The interval of movement is 10-30 minutes, 15-20 minutes on the way, the cost is 11 rubles.

    Wild beach

On the far outskirts of Feodosia for Genoese Fortress and boathouses is a secluded and small rocky-Pebble Beach (on the map). The length of the area suitable for entering the water is slightly more than 30 meters, and then there is a rocky shore. From county to county there is nothing at all, and getting to the beach is not easy, you have to go through the fields and hills behind the fortress for almost a kilometer. As a result, you will find yourself in a completely deserted place, where there are rarely vacationers. Swimming here should be very careful, very dangerous because of the stones. Perhaps the only thing worth going here for is volcanic mud, which many consider curative. It is enough to go from the beach for several tens of meters along the water's edge to a rocky cliff, as you will come across small stones and large boulders. It is believed that many of them are not actually stones, but compressed volcanic ash. They break easily, crumble like hardened clay, and soak in water, turning into dark mud. This dirt is then smeared on joints or just body parts. Whether this mud really has a healing effect, we do not know.
