Egia-Kapai Synagogue (also Yegiya Kapay) is a functioning synagogue and at the same time a religious monument of history and culture. There is also a Jewish cultural and ethnographic center with handicraft production, and nearby is the Yoskin Kot cafe-museum. Perhaps the most interesting thing for tourists and believers here is the "wailing wall". Next to the wall, you can write a note with a wish and put it in the gap between the masonry, from where it will then be delivered to Jerusalem to the Wailing Wall. And in the souvenir shop at the synagogue you can buy a red thread from Jerusalem as a gift or a souvenir.
The synagogue can be visited both with a tour of Small Jerusalem (Old Town of Yevpatoria), or on your own. You can go into the courtyard and even inside the synagogue, it is not forbidden. But you should behave properly and do not forget that this is not only a historical object, but also an active religious object.
The synagogue was built in 1911, but under Soviet rule, like many other religious sites, it was closed in 1930 and used as a warehouse. During the war, the Germans kept horses here. It was returned to believers only in 2003. A lot of interesting things about the history of the synagogue are told during a tour of Little Jerusalem, and visiting on your own may not be very interesting. But if you find yourself here, be sure to visit the cafe of Jewish cuisine "Yoskin-kot". It is very tasty and inexpensive food, of course, kosher food.

🚶 How to get there
the Egia-Kapai synagogue is included in the tourist walking route through Little Jerusalem (the Old City of Evpatoria), but it is not so easy to find it on your own without a map and signs. It is located in the historical center at st. Prosmushkinah, 34 (synagogue on the map), but it is almost invisible from the main route, and the facade can only be seen by turning onto the narrow street of the Prosmushkins, besides, it is hidden by a high fence.
