These quarries were opened in the 19th century for the extraction of building stone, from which houses were built. Stone mining was carried out by workers in very difficult conditions, with hand tools. During the civil and Great Patriotic Wars, local residents took refuge and defended themselves here. Until recently, mining continued, but now the quarry is abandoned, limestone is being mined around the tunnels today, and underground passages have become one of the favorite places for extreme tourism in the vicinity of Yevpatoria.

You can get inside the quarries through the dips on the surface. The depth of the quarry itself is about 10 meters. Inside is a complex network of passages and halls, resembling a large corridor with many rooms on both sides. On the smooth stone walls you can see inscriptions and drawings.
