Primorsko-Akhtarsk (also Akhtari) is a city on the shore of the Sea of Azov in Krasnodar Krai, 150 kilometers from Krasnodar (Primorsko-Akhtarsk on the map). The city is small, with a population of a little more than 32 thousand people. It is a full-fledged beach and climate resort, but is little known among a wide range of tourists, and is more popular as a vacation destination for residents of the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov region.

Rest in Primorsko-Akhtarsk is very calm, almost rustic. The city is clean and cozy, there are no crowds of tourists and grand festivals here. But, unfortunately, the tourist infrastructure here is still very poorly developed, although the resort has the potential for this.

There are no entertainment and attractions here, even traditional beach entertainment is a minimum. The festive atmosphere of the resort town is also not felt. There is a promenade, cafes and restaurants, and even a market with goods for tourists, but there is still a strong feeling that this is not a tourist place. If this suits you– then Primorsko-Akhtarsk will suit you, otherwise choose another place, at least nearby Yeisk. That is, a vacation here will suit you if you don't need anything other than the sea and tranquility.

Well, another reason to come on vacation to Primorsko-Akhtarsk is mud treatment. There are a lot of estuaries near the city, the mud in which is therapeutic. However, the treatment will have to be carried out independently for the time being, since there are no mud baths and sanatoriums here yet.

The beach line in the city limits of Primorsko-Akhtarsk stretches for almost 3 kilometers. Throughout this stretch there is a sandy and sandy-pebble beach, but with its own peculiarity. The fact is that a few years ago, preparations for the construction of the port began here, and they sacrificed good sandy beaches for this. Subsequently, due to the protests of local residents, construction was suspended. But, as it is believed, after that, most of the beach became unsuitable for a comfortable stay due to the large number of stones on the bottom.

Today in Primorsko-Akhtarsk, it is best to swim on an equipped sandy beach in the very center opposite 50 let Oktyabrya Street (beach on the map). The infrastructure is the most developed here and the bottom is more or less clean. The urban infrastructure here is well developed. There are several chain supermarkets, markets, including a tourist market on the embankment, banks and ATMs.

But the infrastructure for vacationers in comparison with other resorts of the Krasnodar Territory is almost absent. There are cafes and restaurants, several canteens for budget meals, the already mentioned market with tourist goods, and modest entertainment on the beach. Excursions to interesting places in the region can be bought from distributors on the embankment, but the choice is not great.

There is no division into districts in Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and the issue of accommodation is solved very easily: you just need to settle closer to the beach. Even better, if you find accommodation near the beach and at the same time next to the street 50 years of October, then you will be near the conditional tourist center. However, accommodation closer to the center costs almost twice as much. On average, you should expect to pay for accommodation from 300 rubles / person on the outskirts and 500 rubles / person in the center in the private sector, and twice as expensive when staying in hotels and guest houses under an official sign.

September is a great month and a velvet season, but in October the beach season may end at the beginning of the month.

• 🌨 Do not go from November to April. In November, or rather even in the middle of October, it is too cold and uncomfortable for a beach holiday and swimming.

How to get there

It is best to get to Primorsko-Akhtarsk by car, since public transport is not very well developed here. In addition, you can visit some interesting places in the vicinity by your own car, go to Yeysk or to other resorts of the Krasnodar Territory as an independent excursion, since there is not much to see in Primorsko-Akhtarsk itself.

If you don't have the opportunity to get there by your own transport, you can get here by plane or train via Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar and other cities with a transfer by taxi, bus or rented car.

By plane to Primorsko-Akhtarsk it is best to get through Krasnodar airport "Pashkovsky". There is also an option via Rostov-on-Don airport, but it is further and more expensive to get from there. In any case, we would recommend getting through Rostov-on-Don airport only with a transfer by taxi or renting a car there, but not by buses.

There is a railway station in the city (railway station on the map), but currently there are only cargo flights to it, and there is no information about the resumption of passenger traffic. The nearest passenger stations are in Timashevsk (80 kilometers) and Krasnodar (150 kilometers). In most cases, it is more convenient to go through Timashevsk, but trains do not go there from all regions.

Attractions and entertainment, what to see

There are practically no attractions in Primorsko-Akhtarsk, there is also very little entertainment. Here you can visit the local museum of local lore, walk along the neat embankment to the Armored Boat monument, go with the children to a modest amusement park. Even sometimes, at the height of the season, several children's attractions appear on the beach (trampoline and jumpers), but their availability from season to season is not guaranteed. On the beach opposite Kubanskaya Street there is a bicycle rental, SUP-surfing boards, windsurfing. But there are no traditional active beach activities like jet ski rental, banana or tablet riding, etc. here.

On the Internet you can find much longer lists of attractions and entertainment in Primorsko-Akhtarsk, but in most cases they do not correspond to reality. For example, you can find a mention about the bunker of the headquarters of the Azov military flotilla, but in fact this place is abandoned and closed, it is impossible to visit it. Moreover, sometimes such guidebooks describe places that have never existed, or sights located tens or even hundreds of kilometers away from it are attributed to the city.
