What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting

Ruins of a Byzantine temple or Luo temple - this is the only historical landmark in Loo, a monument of federal significance. It is believed that several temples were built on this site. The very first one was erected almost 1000 years ago in the X-XII centuries by the Byzantines, who spread Christianity. In the XIV century, it was restored after destruction as a result of an earthquake, and subsequently, due to its advantageous location on a hill at an altitude of 300 meters, it began to be used as a fortress. There is also a version that originally a cult building of the Druids was erected here in the VI century.

But objectively, the ruins of the temple are not particularly interesting. The ticket office has a stand with text information, where you can get some information about the history of this place, but you will not receive excursion support for the paid money. Nevertheless, lovers of all sorts of antiquities and those who believe in places of power, here may like it. It may also be interesting to walk through the forest to the top of the hill to the temple.

If you just want to look at the remains of the walls, then you will spend no more than 5 minutes here. Moreover, for the passage to the ruins during the high season, you will have to pay a considerable fee, since they are located on the territory Sochi National Park. Whether it is worth it is up to you, but we would not include this place in the list of mandatory attractions in Loo. In addition, the ruins in almost all their glory can be viewed without entering the territory.
