What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
Gabdulla Tukay Literary Museum is dedicated to the life and work of the Tatar poet, one of the founders of Tatar literature and the modern Tatar language. His works are included in the Golden fund of Tatar poetry and world literature, included in the school curriculum of Tatarstan. Even if you have never been familiar with his work and have not heard his name, in Kazan you will meet with the memory of him at every step, because even the most popular tourist starting point and landmark bears his name - this is Gabdulla Tukai square. In addition, the metro station, Kazan International Airport and the streets of the city are named after him.
The poet lived a short life, died at the age of 26. But, despite this, he managed to write about 30 volumes of poems and other folklore works. His work became the starting point for the further development of Tatar culture.
The museum has undergone a global reconstruction, and now there is a new and modern interactive exhibition, which is very popular with children. You can explore it yourself, use the services of a live guide or audio guide for an additional fee. The exhibition presents personal belongings of the poet and his relatives, photographs, works, newspapers and magazines with his works, his death mask. Part of the exhibition is devoted to the life of the Old Tatar settlement, the cultural life of Kazan of the late XIX - early XX centuries is presented.
For small children, there is a game room where you can touch and take pictures with the most famous characters from the children's works of G. Tukai, such as Shurale, Vodyanaya, etc. In addition, the curators of the museum will offer to watch cartoons based on one of the works of the poet. In the room you can even just play.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday – from 10:00 to 18:00;Thursday - from 13:00 to 21:00; Friday - from 10:00 to 17:00; Monday closed.
💵 Entrance fee / ticket price
200 rubles adult; 100 rubles pensioners and students; up to 18 years - free of charge. First Tuesday of the month-admission is free. Excursion support-700 rubles per group (excluding the cost of entrance tickets).
🚶 How to get there
the Tukai museum is located on the outskirts of the tourist district of Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda just a few minutes walk from its pedestrian zone at 74 Gabdulla Tukai Street (Museum on the map). From other parts of the city, from the Kremlin or from Bauman streets, you can take the Metro to Ploshchad Tukaya station and then walk one and a half kilometers or 25 minutes. You can also get directly to the museum by bus number 5, 23, 31A, 56, 68, 72.
