The Museum of A.M. Gorky (Peshkov) is dedicated to his life and work in Kazan. The museum is located in the former House of the landowner M. I. Belyaev, where for some time the writer himself worked at the bakery. The museum has been operating since 1940 and is considered one of the oldest in the city.
A. M. Gorky came to Kazan in 1884 to enter the Imperial Kazan University, but he failed. He lived in Kazan for about 6 years, worked as an assistant in a bakery, a loader at the pier, a gardener. He participated in a revolutionary gathering organized by V. I. Ulyanov in 1887.
The museum exhibits photographs, personal belongings, records of the writer. Of interest is a visit to the basement, in which the situation of the bakery of that time is recreated.
The F. I. Chaliapin museum is dedicated to the greatest Russian singer F. I. Chaliapin (1873-1938). He was born in Kazan and lived until the age of 17. Here he began his creative career.
In the halls of the museum there are personal belongings of the artist, his memories of Kazan. You can hear recordings of opera works performed by the singer.
In addition, temporary exhibitions and thematic conferences are held every year in the exhibition hall at the museum:" Gorky readings" and "Chaliapin readings".

Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday – from 10:00 to 17:00, Thursday – from 12:00 to 20:00, Friday-from 10:00 to 16:00, Monday-closed. First Tuesday of the month-admission is free. The last Wednesday of each month is a sanitary day.

🚶 How to get there
the Gorky museum is located a little away from the main attractions and the pedestrian street Bauman on Gorky Street, 10 (Museum on the map). From the end of Bauman Street and the Metro station Ploshchad Tukaya it is 1 kilometer or 15 minutes on foot, and from the main entrance to the Kremlin you will have to walk one and a half kilometers.
