What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
In this cemetery are buried climbers who died during the assault on the peaks in the Dombay mountains from 1960 to 2003. Most of them are experienced athletes and rescuers who have made more than a dozen ascents. In total there are about 30 monuments, but there are few real graves. Most of the monuments are erected to the dead, whose bodies were never found in the mountains, or buried elsewhere. There are also quite recent monuments that are installed here by the will of the deceased climbers.
