Alibek waterfall - this is the number one attraction visited in the summer by tourists from Dombay. It is considered the largest in the vicinity of the resort, and by some estimates even the largest in all of Karachay-Cherkessia, and is easily accessible. It is part of the tourist route Alibek gorge of Teberdinsky Reserve.
Remarkably, this is a very young waterfall. It appeared as a result of climate change, which is believed to have occurred due to human actions. Due to global warming in the middle of the last century, the bilingual glacier began to melt, and from this water it was formed. Therefore, it can be called man-made, and the creators were all mankind.

Route description: From the center of Dombay, you need to walk to the checkpoint at the entrance to the reserve (Checkpoint on the map), where to pay for the entrance, and follow the dirt road to the alplager "Alibek". After the camp there will be a border point where your documents will be checked. Almost immediately after the border point there will be a fork with signs, from where to the waterfall on the path to the left 800 meters without steep ascents and descents.
Theoretically, you can get from the checkpoint to the alplager "Alibek" in your car, as a result of which you will reduce 4 kilometers in one direction, and only 2 km will remain to go to the waterfall. Personal transport is easily passed at the checkpoint, you just need to enter it into the contract and pay for travel. From the checkpoint you will have to go on a very bad rocky road, which not every driver and car will master. But during our visit, local residents passed here even on modern "Lada" and foreign "puzoterki". If you can not get your car directly to the Alpine camp, you can leave the car earlier, but be sure to remove it from the road, because there are large all-terrain trucks. Directly at the Alpine camp, the car can be easily left free of charge at one of several sites.
