Taulu Glade (also called Sofia Glade) is the main tourist hub in the Arkhyz area, where routes to the most scenic mountain attractions begin – Sofia Lakes and Sofia Waterfalls, as well as the Bely Waterfall. It used to be just a spontaneous souvenir market and a jeep parking lot, but now this place has turned into a full-fledged, developing resort area with infrastructure and entertainment. From here, you can not only go on excursions but also just set up a tent, rent a cabin at a tourist base, ride ATVs or buggies, grab a bite at a cafe, take a walk, and enjoy the atmosphere and mountain views.
In our opinion, this is a great place to stay if you want to be closer to nature during your vacation in Arkhyz but aren't ready for complete isolation. Plus, you find yourself right at the entrance to the mountain gorges, avoiding extra kilometers on paved roads. The downsides are that it's not a civilized village with developed infrastructure, but rather a "wild" tourist area with all that entails: dirt roads, dust in dry weather, a lack of centralized amenities at many bases, and prices that vary greatly depending on the season and your haggling skills.
If you're planning to spend several days exploring the Arkhyz area and don't want to drive from the Romantik settlement or the center every time, it's worth considering staying right at Taulu Glade. But be prepared that you'll have to drive 7 kilometers to the nearest proper store or pharmacy. However, there are already small grocery shops and cafes at the glade itself — basic needs can be met.

24/7. But if you're planning to go on tours to the lakes and waterfalls, it's better to come early in the morning — when there aren't as many tourists and there's less dust on the road.
💵 Entry Fee / Ticket Price
Entry to the glade is free. Jeep tours — from 1000 rubles per person (but the price heavily depends on the group size, route distance, and your negotiation skills). ATV or buggy rental — from 4000 rubles per vehicle. Kids' buggy karts — price negotiable on the spot. All prices are approximate and vary greatly depending on the season, demand, and the audacity of the specific vendor. You can join a large group to reduce the cost of the trip — also negotiate that on site.
🚶 How to Get There
Taulu Glade is located between the Romantik settlement and the center of Arkhyz — 7 kilometers from both. Taulu Glade on the map. There's a marked turnoff from the main paved road (A-155 highway). After the turn, you need to drive 1.8 kilometers along a rocky dirt road — it's passable for any car, but you need to drive slowly and carefully, especially in the rain, to avoid damaging the suspension.
At the glade itself, finding a parking spot is usually not a problem. If you've come to switch to a jeep or ATV, the tour organizers usually provide secure parking and keep an eye on your car while you're out. You can also get here by taxi from Arkhyz or Romantik — a one-way trip will cost 300-500 rubles.
If you plan to stay with a tent, keep in mind: in the gorge leading to Bely Waterfall (the first 2 kilometers from the glade), there are several spots for free camping that you can reach in any car. Further than that, you can only go in an off-road vehicle. However, recreation centers and paid campgrounds are now being actively built in this direction, so free spots may gradually disappear. If you can't find a free area, you can stay at a paid campground — prices start from 800 rubles per night with a tent.
