Assumption Cathedral (Holy Dormition Cathedral) is the main functioning Orthodox church in the city, a beautiful and elegant monument of the cultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation.

It was rebuilt of stone in 1905-1906 to replace the wooden church that existed on this site since 1890, and, remarkably, Emperor Nicholas II himself allocated part of the funds for the construction. The new cathedral was consecrated in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God "Mozdokskaya". After the revolution, the temple was liquidated, and the building was used as a shop, restaurant, dormitory. But already in 1943 it was repaired and illuminated in honor of the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, divine services resumed.

There are a lot of icons and murals on the walls and ceiling inside. Unique shrines are carefully preserved here: a particle of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, a copy of the Gifts of the Magi, the relics of the Holy Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia; as well as images with particles of the relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and the Holy Great Prince Alexander Nevsky; the miraculous list of the Mozdok Icon of the Mother of God, the myrrh-streaming icon of St. Barlaam Khutynsky. There is a church shop. There is a small and well-maintained territory around the temple. Parking spaces are provided at the intersection of Kamalov Street and Nikulin Lane.
