Central Juma Mosque (or Yusuf bey Jami) is the main and most important mosque for Muslims, the largest in Russia. It was built in 1997 on the initiative and at the expense of a wealthy Turkish family living in the city. The architectural basis was Blue Mosque in Istanbul.
The huge white building looks impressive both outside and inside. 2 minarets rise above the numerous domes. Inside, the walls and ceiling are decorated with beautiful patterns and ornaments. The size of the Mosque, together with the surrounding area, can accommodate up to 17,000 people at a time. The Juma Mosque serves not only as a place for prayer, but also performs an important public role: educational lectures are organized here for Muslims, and free advice is provided on various issues.
There are parking spaces next to the mosque. On the south side of the building there is a small cozy park with fountains and benches. Tourists are free to visit the mosque, but certain rules must be observed: shoes are removed before entering, clothes should not expose shoulders and knees, so men wear shirts and trousers, and women wear a hoodie and cover their heads. There are different halls for men and women for prayers.

Tourists are not allowed to enter during the prayer. The time of prayer varies from day to day, and, to put it simply, it depends on the time of sunrise and sunset, see the schedule on the mosque's website right on the main page. If you decide to visit the mosque and get to the prayer period, you can just walk around the mosque or in the park for 15-20 minutes, and after the prayer is over, come back to visit.

The Juma Mosque is located on the outskirts of Makhachkala at 136 Dahadaev Street, but at the same time not very far from the conventional historical center and the port area (Central Juma Mosque on the map). Walking distance from the beach and the port is 3 kilometers, or you can take a large number of buses, trolleybuses or shuttle buses to the bus stop "Central Mosque".
