Description and is it worth a visit
Kawasan Falls is the most famous and beautiful waterfall on Cebu island, and one of the must-see places to visit, especially if you are vacationing at Moalboal resort. There are always a lot of tourists and vacationing locals here, it is objectively the most crowded of all the waterfalls on the island of Cebu. From Cebu City and from Mactan Islands it is also visited, but it is quite far away, so it is usually included in the program of complex excursions with canyoning along the riverbed, or combined with a trip to the whale sharks in Oslob.
Kawasan Waterfall consists of many rapids that stretch along the riverbed, but the most visited and equipped for swimming are only two, the highest with a height of 20 meters. At their foot there are large natural swimming pools, and around is a tourist complex with restaurants, picnic areas, toilets, changing cabins, and even a hotel with individual houses from 800 pesos ( 12.96 USD, see Philippine currency and exchange rate). You can come here for the whole day to swim in the cool water and sunbathe, jump into the water. You can rent a bamboo raft to swim across the pool and enter under the jets of the waterfall. During the swim, personal belongings can be left in the storage room in a lockable locker next to the first waterfall for 100 pesos. Theoretically, swimming in the pools without a swimming vest is prohibited here, vests are issued for rent for a fee of 50 pesos.
The most interesting thing here is canyoning, i.e. passing the riverbed with overcoming small rapids under the supervision of an instructor and with special equipment. Of course, you will have to pay extra for this, see for more information about canyoning. Also, for a fee, you can jump into the pool, for which an instructor, equipment (helmet and vest) is provided, as well as photo or video shooting of the jump.
🕐 Working hours
From 08:00 to 17:00, It is better to visit in the morning on weekdays, because on weekends and in the afternoon a lot of tourists and locals come to rest.

🚶 How to get there
The waterfall is located in the southern part of Cebu island, 120 kilometers from Cebu and 25 from Moalboal (waterfall on the map). It is best to get here from Moalboal on a rented motorbike, with a tour, but you can get there yourself by bus.
-
From Moalboal, you first need to get from the beaches on a tricycle for 50 pesos to the main street in the village, where intercity buses from Cebu to Bato pass. There you need to take any bus south towards Bato (Bato), go every 20 minutes, 20 minutes on the way, cost from 15 pesos. You need to get off in the village of Badian (Badian) next to the Church Matutinao Church. If you tell the driver that you need to get to Kawasan, he will remind you when to get off. Here you will be offered to purchase canyoning tours at the lowest price, and the services of guides and porters to the waterfall. If canyoning is not interesting, you can continue to go towards the waterfall along the path along the river one and a half kilometers to the ticket office and the first threshold. Guides are not needed here at all, the road is explicit and well marked. Also from Malboal offer excursions to the waterfall and canyoning, cost from 1500 pesos, including transport and all equipment.
-
From Cebu or Mactana is best reached with a guided tour or by taxi, as buses are a long way away, spending almost all day on the road. Well, it doesn't make much sense to go just for one waterfall, it's better to take a tour with canyoning. Their cost is from 2500 pesos. If you still decide to go on your own, then you need to take a bus from the Cebu South Bus terminal to Moalboal (run during the day from 5 AM every 30 minutes, cost from 116 pesos, 3-4 hours on the way). Then you get to the waterfall as written above from Moalboal. You can also take a bus from the South Bus Station directly to Badian (Badian).
- Of Oslob you will have to transfer via Bato. The bus runs often, every 20-30 minutes, the entire route will take a little more than 100 pesos and 2 hours in time.
If you go here by rented transport, be guided by the Matutinao Church in the village of Badian (Badian). Next to it, at the turn to the waterfall, there is a parking lot (50 pesos), and then on foot one and a half kilometers. Driving under your own power after the turn is prohibited.
