There are no direct flights from Russia and other countries of the former USSR to Cebu, but it is convenient to get there by flights with transfers through Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul, Bangkok, Dubai.

Airport infrastructure and facilities

Cebu Airport is modern, rebuilt in 2018. Consists of two terminals:

• MCIA Terminal 1 (Domestic) - domestic flights;
• MCIA Terminal 2 (International) - international flights.

The terminals are close to each other and can be reached on foot in 5 minutes. But if you have heavy suitcases, it makes sense to take advantage of a free shuttle bus called the Premium Airport Bus. To use it, you first need to get a ticket-coupon for him at the Transfer Desk in the terminal where you arrived. There you will be given a coupon and explain where to go. These buses run every 15-30 minutes around the clock.

The terminals have everything you need to wait for a flight, especially the new international MCIA Terminal 2. It has Duty-Free shops in the international zone, currency exchange offices, ATMs, taxi and hotel booking counters. Terminal 1 also has everything you need, including currency exchange. However, do not expect much comfort from the airport, especially in the domestic terminal: it is very crowded and noisy, crowded with passengers. In the waiting area of the landing of the domestic terminal there are several very inexpensive cafes, so you can not order food on board for domestic flights, but eat here while waiting for departure.

In Terminal 2 and Terminal 1 there is free Wi-Fi Internet, but, unfortunately, it works very slowly and unstable, and not in all zones: in some parts of the airport you can connect to it without problems, and in some networks work, to connect to which you need to specify the local SIM card number.

What is convenient, immediately at the exit from the airport, the urban infrastructure begins. Walking literally 25 minutes on foot you will get to the shops and Shopping Center Marina Mall, where there is a supermarket, food court, currency exchange, ATMs. This can be used if you are flying in transit, and there is enough time when transferring.

Cebu airport currency exchange

The airport has Exchange offices and ATMs, working around the clock.

The exchange rate here is not profitable, lower by 2-3 percent than in the city and resorts. For example, one day at the airport the exchange rate was 47 pesos per dollar, while in the Marina Mall and SM City Cebu dollars bought up to 50.68 pesos. Thus, when exchanging $ 100, you will virtually lose about 368 pesos (6.4 USD, see the currency of the Philippines and its exchange rate), so if possible, change here at a minimum to be able to get to the place of rest, and there already find a more favorable rate. If the time between flights allows, you can walk, taxi or mototaxi to get to the Shopping Center Marina Mall or Island Central Mactan, and exchange money at a more favorable rate there. The exchanger is located inside the shopping center in the Savemore supermarket at the Western Union Money Transfer Office. Next to the shopping center there are still exchangers, but as of 2019, the rate in them was slightly lower. You can also take buses to SM City Cebu shopping centers (SM City Cebu on the map) or Ayala Center Cebu (Ayala Mall on the map), the course may be slightly higher there. But you have to go about 40 minutes in one direction, and the same amount back.

There are ATMs at the airport, but when withdrawing money, they withhold their commission of 250 pesos (4.35 USD) for each transaction in addition to the commission of your bank, and you can withdraw only 10,000 at a time. This makes their use as unprofitable as the exchange, even if your bank does not withhold the commission. If this is not essential, then you will find ATMs on the street after leaving the international terminal on the left.

The only ATM in the Philippines that does not withhold Commission and allows you to withdraw up to 40,000 pesos at a time is HSBC ATM. But it is located next to the Shopping Center Ayala Center Cebu, it will have to go by bus with transfers, or by taxi.

Service fee for departure from the airport

When departing from Cebu Airport, as well as at other Philippine airports, passengers must pay the Terminal Fee service fee. For domestic flights, it is already included in the ticket price, for international flights you will have to pay it yourself before departure, for which it is better to leave the required amount in local currency.

The fee is paid in cash only, is 850 pesos (14.79 USD). You can also pay for it by card or in dollars ($17 at a good rate of 50 pesos). To pay after check-in, you need to go to a special counter with a boarding pass, pay, and you will be stamped on payment. Without this stamp, you will not be allowed to board.

How to get from Cebu Airport to City and resorts

The airport is located on Mactan Island, which is actually itself the most popular and developed resort related to Cebu island (Cebu Airport on the map). Therefore, leaving the airport you actually find yourself at the resort. To some hotels and hostels in order to spend the night with a light backpack, you can even walk, or use local transport to save on a taxi.

If you need to get to other cities on Cebu, you will have to use a taxi or MyBus airport bus to get to the bus station or pier and change to another transport there.

• Taxi

  At the airport there are two types of taxi meters:

  • Taxi-White is a regular City Taxi, cheaper. It will cost up to 200 pesos to get to the hotel on Mactan (3.48 USD) ; to the bus station, Marina, City Center up to 500 pesos (8.7 USD).
  • Taxi-Yellow is an airport taxi, it is a bit more expensive. It is better to use it for long trips outside the city.

  You can also use the car order for the trip through the Grab or JoyRide applications, which is even more profitable and safer.

  

• Buses

  The MyBus city bus runs from the domestic terminal to the city centre. The fare is 25 (0.44 USD) or 50 pesos depending on the place where you need to go, paid in cash. If you arrive at the international terminal to take the bus, you will have to walk (5 minutes) or take the airport shuttle to the domestic terminal.

  Buses depart from the airport every 20 minutes from 07:00 to 22:00, from the city to the airport every 20 minutes from 06:00 to 21:00. It goes past the Mactan Marina Mall shopping center, Parkmall shopping center, and ends up at the SM City Cebu shopping center in the city center.

  If you need to get to the northern bus station Cebu North Bus terminal or the southern bus station Cebu South Bus terminal, then next to the shopping center SM City Cebu there is a large jeepney shuttle bus terminal, or you can transfer to a city taxi. It is even easier to go to the north side of the shopping center SM City Cebu on the street F. Cabahug St-A. Soriano Ave, and there take a jeepney 01K. • Taxi jeepney or v-hire.

  This transport does not go directly from the terminal, but you can walk or take a taxi to the Mactan Marina Mall Shopping Center (Marina Mall on the map) one and a half kilometers, and from there go to any place on Mactan Island or in the city.
