How to get from Manila to Boracay

If you need to get from Manila or from Manila airport to Boracay, then without hesitation buy tickets of local airlines. The flight will cost a little more than the journey on the ground and on the ferry, but you will save a lot of time. If you think that you can save a large amount, then this is not entirely true. Even if you go all the way by bus and ferry only on local transport, you will spend at least 1300 pesos one way to the port of Caticlana (port to Boracay), and a one-way flight without luggage can be bought from 1800. At the same time, keep in mind that on the ferry at the lowest price you will have to sail at least 9 hours sitting, and for sleeping places you will spend the same as for the flight.

If you do not want to get to Boracay yourself, consider buying ready-made tours. They are offered with departure from different regions of Russia, and this price includes an individual or group transfer to the hotel with all transfers. Manila to Boracay by plane

Since Boracay does not have its own airport, one arrives here through one of the two airports Caticlan airport or Kalibo Airport on the large island of Panay, which is separated from Boracay by a two-kilometer Strait. Upon arrival at these airports, you will only have to travel by bus/minivan to the pier, and by boat directly to Boracay. Moving from airports is well organized, and you do not have to choose your own transport, you can immediately buy an inexpensive transfer on the spot.

Caticlan airport is preferable, because within an hour after arrival you can find yourself on the Boracay beaches, but flights to it are somewhat more expensive than in Kalibo. On the other hand, from Kalibo you still have to drive to the Pier 70 kilometers on the ground, which will have to spend the same money, and even time. Here are detailed instructions about the route through each of the airports:

Boracay Airport/Caticlan

• Via Caticlan airport

  Caticlan airport is located just a few kilometers from Boracay in the city of Caticlan (Caticlan port on the map). It is also sometimes called Boracay Airport.

  The price for a round trip flight is from 4000 pesos without luggage (71.12 USD, see Philippine currency and Exchange Rate), but if you buy in advance, on sales, or if you are not tied to specific dates, you can get a round-trip flight cheaper than 3500 pesos (62.23 USD).

  You can buy tickets on airline websites Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, AirAsia but there may be a little problem with this: Philippine Airlines websites sometimes open very poorly from other countries.   But if all else fails, buy tickets on search engine sites, there, at least, without failures. Here are the minimum prices for a round trip flight from Manila to Caticlan:

  When you arrive at Caticlan airport, you will only have to take a boat/ferry to Boracay, which is done easily for only 150 pesos (2.67 USD) with the help of a ready-made transfer to a minivan+boat, which are offered at the counter in the arrival terminal. Both transfers and boats run around the clock, so you can immediately go to Boracay without stopping in the city of Caticlan, where there is absolutely nothing to do.

  In addition to the transfer, you will also have to pay 100 pesos at the pier (1.78 USD) port fee, and 300 pesos (5.33 USD) environmental fee for entry to the island. And do not forget that you must have an accredited hotel reservation on hand.

• Via Kalibo airport

  The other nearest airport to Boracay is Kalibo International Airport, 70 kilometers from Boracay (Kalibo airport on the map). From there you will have to travel by land to the port in Caticlan, from where boats leave for Boracay, but it is very easy to do this, so you can safely buy tickets to Kalibo if you "catch" good prices:

  Immediately at the airport upon arrival, you can buy a ready-made transfer to the pier in Caticlan. It is sold locally for 250 pesos economy option (4.44 USD), and for 450 (8 USD ) more comfortable VIP-transfer agency Southwest. You can get there at any time, including at night, but sometimes you have to wait a little for departure. The journey is about 2 hours.

  Upon arrival at the marina in Caticlan, you will only have to take a boat to Boracay, which run around the clock, cost 30 pesos + 100 port fee + 75 environmental fee, and you are in Boracay.

  We recommend booking transfer Kalibo-Boracay or back online, since it includes delivery directly to the hotel, and not just to the pier, from where you still have to cross by boat and get to the hotel by local taxi.

Manila to Boracay by ferry and bus

Many years ago, there was an MBRS ferry service from the northern port of Manila to Caticlan (a port on Boracay), but it was canceled. Now you have to get from Manila through the port in the city of Batangas (Batangas). The ferry takes over 9 hours to sail, and about 4 hours to get from Manila to the port. In total, the entire move will take more than 13 hours, and from 1300 pesos (23.11 USD). Moreover, for the minimum cost you will get a seat, and if you want to sleep on the way, you will have to pay one and a half times more.

Philippines ferry

Batangas is 100 kilometers from Manila (Kalibo airport on the map), and you will have to get there by taxi or bus. The road will take more than 4 hours due to traffic jams, so lay more reserve time for the departure of the ferry, especially since they just go mainly at the peak of traffic jams.

From the airport of Manila direct buses, you will have to take a taxi for 2500-3500 pesos (and this is the cost of a flight by plane), or go with a transfer in the district of Manila through bus stations in Kamuning, Alabang, Pasay. Travel with all transfers and terminal fees will cost around 350 pesos if you do the entire route on buses. Buses run at least every hour, and the most popular carrier is Jam Bus, which has stations in Buendia and Cubao.
