Boracay Beaches

The beaches in Boracay are undoubtedly gorgeous, but there are also features that you should definitely know about when you choose a hotel and an area for accommodation. Unfortunately, not all of them are suitable for a beach holiday, not all infrastructure is well developed, and in some places you should not settle at all. The best beaches and developed areas of Boracay are predominantly on the West Coast, while the East Coast is not very suitable for recreation:

• Uyat Beach / White Beach – the best beach in the Philippines and the most developed area, 4 kilometers long. If you are in Boracay for the first time, it is best to come here.
• Diniwid Beach is a small beautiful and cozy beach in a bay not very far from the center. Here you can stay in a hotel, or visit here on foot from White Beach.
• Hagdan Beach / Hagdan Beach is a wild rustic beach but very beautiful and clean. You can come here to relax during the day if you want to retire.
• Punta Bunga Beach is a hotel beach, but access is open to everyone. You can come to rest for a day, and if finances allow, it is better to settle in one of the local luxury hotels.
• Puka Beach / Puka Shell Beach is one of the most beautiful and pristine beaches. It should be visited by every guest of Boracay, but you can not stay here, there are no hotels nearby.
• Ilig-Iligan Beach / Ilig Iligan Beach – a chain of several remote and quiet beaches, and an area where you can stay. Here you should choose a hotel if you want to be away from the center and parties, but it is better not to settle here during the high season from November to May because of the winds and waves.
• Manoc-Manoc Beach and Tambisaan Beach are unpopular beaches in the south of the island due to the fact that there are boat docks and the area is poorly developed. But objectively the beaches are not bad.
• Bulabog Beach / Bulabog Beach and Tulubhan Beach / Tulubhan Beach – two completely unsuitable for swimming on the Eastern Shore: too shallow and dirty. Bulabog Beach is a place for kitesurfing enthusiasts.

All the listed beaches in Boracay are free, access is not limited in any way, but there are strict prohibitions and rules, especially on White Beach:

• You can not place and rent sun beds and umbrellas (you can bring your own mats and mattresses);
• you can not litter, urinate, defecate, smoke;
• you can not build sand castles and figures;
• it is forbidden to eat and drink on the beach;
• you can not take with you sand and pebbles;
• drones without special permission are prohibited;
• you can not bring and bring pets to the beach;
• trade, massage, offers of tours and other services in the bathing area are prohibited.

The last rule is especially pleasant for tourists, since as a result, all sorts of molesters have almost completely disappeared. Now they are" on duty" on the footpath along Wyatt Beach, but do not poke into the sand.

Boracay tides

Unfortunately, the beaches on Boracay are very much affected by low tide, especially on the eastern beaches of Ilig-Iligan, Bulabog, Tulubhan, Tambisaan and Manok-Manok. When the water level is low, it goes very far from the shore, so it becomes completely impossible to swim. Keep this in mind when planning your trip, and see tide forecasts so that the tides are during the day and not at night.

  Uyat Beach is the beach of all beaches, it is considered the best in the Philippines (White Beach on the map). It is almost 4 kilometers of pure white sand, fine and soft as flour. The slope of the bottom allows you to swim here both at low tide and at high tide, and at the same time you can find very small and safe areas for children. Sun loungers and umbrellas for rent are prohibited here, but in the shade you can hide under palm trees, and sunbathe on a tourist rug or a special mattress brought with you. And yet, here are the best sunsets, and you definitely can not argue with this, see the photo. But do not worry: although this is the best place for a beach holiday, there is enough space for everyone, and if you go to the outskirts to the south or north, there is almost no one there at all.

  This is the most developed and fun area of Boracay, and if you want to be in the thick of events and entertainment, be sure to settle near it. Along the beach there is a pedestrian street (unpaved, not a sidewalk), on which a chain of bars, cafes, restaurants, canteens, travel agencies, currency exchange, diving centers, rental of equipment for snorkeling and diving, even offer sex services. Prices, however, are high by local standards, but if you go towards the main road, everything is Cheaper.

  Throughout the White Beach is divided into conditional sections, the names of which are used to orient and designate areas within a very Long Beach. They are simply named: Station 1, 2 and 3. The Station 2 area is the most central and most developed part of White Beach and the entire island as a whole.

• Diniwid Beach

  Dinivid Beach is a great alternative to Uyat Beach if you want to be close to it and the center, and at the same time in a quieter and more peaceful place (diniwid Beach on the map). Dinivid Beach is small, only 300 meters, located in a cozy Bay, and usually almost deserted. True, of the 300 meters really clean and without Stones, only half, and the rest is not very safe for swimming. The slope of the bottom is small, but even at low tide you can go further and swim. Both the shore and the bottom under the water are clean, the sand is white and fine.

  On the shore and the area there is no entertainment and "parties", the situation is rustic. There are a couple of cafes, shops, and if you go through the village one kilometer to the main road, there you will find a large shopping center and a supermarket CityMall. You can visit the beach during the day to relax, or stay here in one of the hotels.

  What is very good is that on the beach between Danivid and white beach you can walk right along the shore: they are separated by a rocky cape, but there is a concrete path along it.

• Hagdan Beach / Hagdan Beach

  Hagdan Beach (Hagdan Beach) is also known as Boracay Westcove, at least the latter option is indicated on the wooden sign from the main road to the dirt road through the village, which will lead you to the beach (Hagdan Beach on the map). It will take 1 kilometer to walk along it, but tricycles come here with reluctance: the road is too bad, especially after the rain. By the way, on the maps Organic Maps and if this beach is marked as paid, but this is incorrect information, the entrance is completely free.

  Hagdan Beach is very quiet and secluded, far from civilization, tourists are rare here. Therefore, if you want to relax in a secluded place – this is definitely the best option. Sometimes there are locals with families, or village children, and have picnics in the shade under the rock near the entrance, but you can go further north, and there with a high probability you will be alone.

  The length of Hagdan Beach is about 200 meters. The southern part is rocky, but the northern part is Sandy and clean. The slope of the bottom is small, the tides affect decently, but you can go further from the shore and swim.

  

  

  

• Punta Bunga Beach

  Punta Bunga Beach is a hotel beach, but everyone can visit it. Moving along the main road you will see a branch to the small Road Punta Bunga Road to the Crimson Resort and Spa Boracay Hotel, and a checkpoint with a guard at this turn. The guards do not interfere with the passage to the beach, they can only say hello and ask where you are. You can say that to the beach or to a restaurant on the beach. Then go down the road, pass through the hotel, and you are on the beach (Punta Bunga Beach on the map).

  The beach is excellent, maintained in almost perfect cleanliness by hotel staff. You can swim at any time, low tide is not noticeable. From entertainment, you can rent a kayak, paddle boat, motor boat trips are offered, but all this is for hotel guests. There are also at least two hotel restaurants and a swimming pool at the Crimson Resort and Spa Boracay, where foam parties and animation are held.

  

  

  

• Puka Beach / Puka Shell Beach

  Puka Beach or Puka Shell Beach is also called Yapak beach by the name of the village near which it is located (Puka Beach on the map). Actually, this village is the closest civilization to Puka Shell. It is the farthest and most natural beach in Boracay. At the entrance to the beach there is a small souvenir market and fast food stalls, cafes, and a volleyball net, and this is where the entire infrastructure ends. There are no places for accommodation in the village of Yapak yet, but a large hotel is being built.

  But one and a half kilometers of clean and natural sandy beach begins, quite claiming the title of "Bounty". The strip of sand is very wide, reaches 50 meters. The depth is good, after 5-10 meters you can swim. True there are a couple of features: there are large waves near the shore; the sand is large mixed with broken shells and corals, which makes it difficult to walk along the shore.

  The locals themselves recommend this place as the main local attraction, so you can not visit it. Here, by the way, even carry large groups of tourists on boats from White Beach, although it is not difficult to get on a tricycle from 100 pesos/person.after bargaining, or 300 for the whole tricycle.

• Ilig-Iligan Beach / Ilig Iligan Beach

  This is another of the beaches in Boracay, where you can retire. Rather, it is a whole chain of beaches with a total length of almost 2 kilometers, separated by Rocky capes (Ilig-Iligan Beach on the map). But it is on the Eastern Shore, and in the high season from about November to March, winds blow here, which drive waves and mud ashore. If you do not pay attention to this, then you can safely call it the best in Boracay. To get here, you need to hire a tricycle completely. Usually they ask for 300 pesos, but you can bargain up to 200 in one direction.

  There are almost no vacationers here, a lot of secluded places, and almost no infrastructure except for a couple of cafes and hotels. The slope of the bottom is small, the tides are manifested, but not as much as on other Eastern Beaches. The sand is yellow, coarse. And by the way, there is good snorkeling, especially in the northern part. 200 meters from the shore there is a tiny rocky island in the form of a turtle, around which it is a pleasure to swim with a mask. You can swim to the island on a rented kayak or boat for 500 pesos after bargaining.

  

  

  

• Manoc-Manoc Beach and Tambisaan Beach

  These two beaches are located in the extreme south of the island in the village of Manok-Manok, they are the main marinas of Boracay, where boats and ferries arrive from Caticlan (Decoy-decoy on the map and Tambisaan Beach on the map).

  Almost no one rests here, as this is a place for boats and fishermen, but objectively they are not so bad, rather the opposite. Of course, the proximity of motorboats and the marina is not very pleasant, but if you move away, then these are quite clean and kupable beaches, especially Tambisaan Beach. Decoy decoy is a little worse and shallow, but you can still swim at high tide.

  As for the area itself and the village of Manok-Manok, this is a typical village without tourist infrastructure and entertainment, but there are several options for accommodation in good hotels.

  Tulubhan Beach is also called Lugutan Beach. These are two beaches on the east coast (Bulabog Beach on the map and Tulubhan Beach on the map), but it makes no sense to describe each of them separately, since they are all equally bad and not suitable for swimming. They are suitable only for sunbathing or relaxing in a hotel by the pool, or kitesurfing. It is here that the best conditions in Boracay for practicing this sport, and therefore there are several kite surfing schools, rental and sale of equipment.

  All two beaches are very shallow and muddy, and the sand is more like clay, it is too viscous. The infrastructure in the areas along these beaches is also difficult to call developed and comfortable: ruin and dirt reign, roads are dug up, buildings are dilapidated, construction is underway. Perhaps, over time, the area will change, but the conditions on the beach can not be changed, because even if it is constantly cleaned, the east wind and waves still do not leave a chance for cleanliness. Well, nothing to do with the depth.

  Given all this, we would not recommend staying in a hotel near these beaches, unless you come to Boracay for the sake of practicing or learning kitesurfing. But, as an option, you can choose accommodation with a swimming pool in the hotel.
