Sri Maha Mariamman Devasthana Hindu temple is a small active Hindu shrine in the east of Langkawi. The architecture here is fairly modest compared to temples in mainland Malaysia or especially India, but inside you can see traditional statues of deities and vibrant decorations. In our experience, most of the time it's quiet and empty — there are rarely any tourists or locals. However, during Hindu festivals, the temple comes alive with ceremonies, and you might catch the local community gathering.
It's probably not worth making a special trip from far away — this isn't a top-tier attraction. But if you're exploring the eastern part of the island (for example, on your way to Durian Waterfall or the Air Hangat area), you can stop by for 10–15 minutes to quietly look around the interior and snap a few photos. The temple is always open, entry is free, and visitors are welcome, but it's worth following basic etiquette: take off your shoes before entering and behave respectfully.

The temple is open during daylight hours, usually from morning until sunset. There's no fixed schedule, but you can easily get in during daylight.

🚶 How to Get There
The temple is in the east of the island in Air Hangat village, right on the main ring road (Sri Maha Mariamman Devasthana on Langkawi map). The easiest way is by rental car or taxi. There's parking available nearby. If you're coming from the north (from Durian Waterfall) or from the south (from Kuah town), the temple is easily visible from the road.
