Overview & Is It Worth Visiting?
The Eagle's Nest SkyWalk glass bridge is a new attraction in Langkawi for those who want to test their nerves and soak in breathtaking views from above. Picture this: you're standing on a glass bridge hovering over a chasm, with jungles and cliffs dropping hundreds of meters below your feet. This eagle bridge is designed to look like a giant nest – a nod to Langkawi's symbol, hence the name.
People come here for the adrenaline rush, the unique photo ops, and the panoramic views you can only get from this spot. The Langkawi glass bridge might be small (the walk takes 5–10 minutes), but it packs an emotional punch – especially when you peer down through the transparent floor.
But here's the catch! Don't get these two bridges mixed up when buying tickets:
- Eagle's Nest SkyWalk (this article) — is the new extreme bridge, located at the intermediate station of the cable car. It's a small glass bridge styled like an eagle's nest. The walk takes 5–10 minutes, it's paid, but it's included in some combo tickets.
- Langkawi SkyBridge — is at the top station, a long suspension bridge over the abyss and the main icon of the cable car. You need to get to it separately (on foot or by funicular).
These are two completely different attractions, and tickets are bought separately (unless you get the extended combo package). For more on the SkyBridge and the whole cable car system, check out our article Langkawi Cable Car & SkyBridge.
And here's our honest take on whether this extreme bridge is worth visiting: we wouldn't say the experience left us totally blown away. Didn't feel much of an adrenaline rush, and the time you spend there is just a few minutes. Bottom line, the price feels way too high, especially for foreign visitors. Comparing it to the old SkyBridge, we like the SkyBridge way more – the experience is far more impressive, the views are stunning, and it even has its own small glass-floor section. Honestly, if we had to pick just one bridge to save money, we'd go walk the SkyBridge again without hesitation. Especially since it costs 6 ringgit compared to 50 for the Langkawi eagle bridge. How to Visit the Extreme Bridge: A Step-by-Step Guide
To get to the Eagle's Nest bridge, you first need to take the cable car up, which is an attraction in itself, not part of the bridge. Here's a guide to prepare you for all the details:
- Buy a cable car (SkyCab) ticket – any option works, even the most basic one. Keep in mind: the Langkawi glass bridge itself is not included in regular cable car tickets; you need to pay separately or get a combo ticket (more on ticket types below).
- Ride up to the middle station – this is where the Eagle's Nest SkyWalk extreme bridge is located, and there are ticket booths here to buy a separate entry ticket if you don't have a combo.
- At the entrance, you'll find luggage storage and staff to help you out. You'll have to leave all your stuff – bags, backpacks, even valuables – in a locker. It's free, the lockers are under video surveillance, and you keep the key, so nothing to worry about. You're only allowed to take your phone and camera with you. They'll give you a wrist strap for your phone (but heads up: your phone needs a case to attach it).
- Put on shoe covers – they'll give you these for free, to wear right over your shoes. This is to prevent scratches on the glass floor.
- Step onto the bridge. It's pretty small, about 10–15 meters. You can walk around freely, take photos, look down through the glass. There's no rush, nobody's hurrying you.
- Head back, take off the shoe covers, and grab your stuff from the locker.
- Don't miss the viewing platform above the bridge! Lots of tourists overlook it and leave, which is a shame. The staircase is easy to miss, tucked near the lockers, and it leads you right up into the "eagle's head." From up there, you get a top-down view of the bridge itself and even wider panoramas. Definitely climb up, it takes just a minute.
- Continue your route. After visiting the bridge, you can take the cable car further up to the SkyBridge and viewpoints, or head back down.
The whole visit takes about 5–10 minutes.
Important! The Langkawi cable car ticketing system is pretty confusing, and to avoid getting flustered on the spot, it's best to figure it all out beforehand. We have a super detailed guide on the Langkawi cable car and SkyBridge. In it, we cover all the ticket options, the layout of the complex, and give a step-by-step visit plan. Highly recommend reading it before your trip – it'll save you time and stress.
Tips for Visiting the Eagle Bridge
- Best to combine with a cable car trip. Making a special trip just for this extreme bridge isn't really worth it, but if you're passing through anyway – why not.
- Leave all your belongings in the lockers before entering. Even valuables – the lockers are under cameras, you keep the key, everything will be safe. Just take your phone and camera with you.
- They'll give you a wrist strap for your phone – to stop you from accidentally dropping it down. Make sure your phone has a case, otherwise you won't be able to attach it.
- Don't miss the staircase going up! After your walk on the bridge, climb the stairs up into the "eagle's head" – there's a great view of the eagle bridge itself and the surroundings from up there.
- Come in the first half of the day – fewer crowds and better chances of clear weather.
- You can get some awesome photos. Especially if you shoot each other: one person stands on the glass floor, the other snaps from below or the side.
- Don't expect a huge adrenaline rush. The bridge is sturdy, no swaying. But if you're afraid of heights, it might still get your heart racing.
