Yeh Pulu Complex and how to visit

Description and is it worth a visit

Bas-relief in the Yeh Pulu complex

Yeh Pulu is not exactly a temple complex, as some guides say and write guidebooks. In fact, this is a historical landmark and an archaeological complex, which probably had nothing to do with religion. Although there is also a small temple here, so you need to visit it in a sarong, like all the holy places of Bali. But the basis of Yeh Pulu is not a temple, but a large bas-relief (length 26.5 meters, height 3 meters), carved into the rock and depicting scenes from everyday peasant life, and according to another version allegedly part of the life of Krishna. It was created approximately in the XIV century.

All tourists are brought here almost without fail during group excursions, and we also stopped by to see what's interesting here. We do not want to downplay its significance for history and local residents, but from the point of view of tourists there is nothing much to do here. Therefore, we will definitely not recommend visiting it. You can stop here if you drive by. For example, it is convenient to visit it together with the Goa Gajah temple. Well, or come here if you have nothing to do during your vacation in Ubud (Yeh Pulu is located near Ubud). And to go from Kuta and other areas here is not worth it, because he will spend 20 minutes here, no more.

But perhaps the most interesting and spectacular thing about Yeh Pulu is the walking route. From the parking lot and the paid entrance, you will pass through a rice field, past banana and coconut palms. If you go even further, you will get to the river with small waterfalls and water slides. Be careful, there is a chance to meet exotic spiders and "make friends" with land leeches. But despite this, the walk will be interesting if you have not walked through the rice fields before.

In fact, you will only see a bas-relief here
A small temple
And a couple of niches in the rock perhaps for meditation
But there are beautiful rice fields nearby
Bananas are growing
And coconuts
There are such spiders
There is a mini waterfall
