There is no clear border between the districts, it is conditional, i.e. in fact, you may not understand at all that you got from one beach to another or moved between the districts.

But still, the atmosphere of Legian is calmer and quieter than Kuta. And if we advise you to choose Kuta primarily for those who are looking for fun, a youth hangout with bars and clubs, surfing, then Legian can already be recommended for a more relaxing beach holiday. Legian also has everything from the urban and tourist infrastructure, and if there is something missing, then you can easily get or even walk to Kuta, and you will find everything there.

The prices here are also not to say that they are higher than in Kuta, well, maybe a little more expensive.

Is it worth a vacation in Legian

If you need an area with developed infrastructure (by the standards of Bali, of course), proximity to the airport and the tourist center of the island, and you are ready to put up with some noise and fussiness on vacation, then it is definitely worth it. And if you can still afford to stay here in hotels with your territory on the first line, then it's worth it doubly.

In our opinion, Legian and another neighboring area of Seminyak are generally the best options for combining a good beach and a relaxing holiday. Seminyak, by the way, is even more calm. But the most convenient thing here is that in just a few minutes by taxi or minibuses bemo you can get to the center of the hangout with bars and clubs on Jl. Raya Legian street.

The beach is very long and wide, walking along it is a pleasure.
The area is developed, there is almost everything you might need for a holiday and a long stay, and the center of Kuta is not far away.
In Kuta, you can find hotels at a good price, travel services, goods, and a favorable currency exchange rate.
There is no problem with access to the beach from anywhere in the area.

What is the beach in Legian

Legian Beach lies on the same shore with Kuta and Seminyak beaches, in fact it is all one beach with a length of 10 kilometers, or maybe more, conditionally divided between districts. Well, the beach here is cool, and for good reason it has earned the love and recognition of millions of tourists who choose it again and again as a vacation destination. It is sandy, clean, without rocks and corals.

Of course, lovers of swimming in calm water near the shore should be a little disappointed, this is not about Bali at all. There are more strong waves and surfing. But still, in the Legion, you can swim near the shore with pleasure, jumping on the waves, and catching a wave on a board. There are board rentals and surfing training here.

The beach is equipped: there are sun loungers, umbrellas, cafes where you can buy something to eat and drink, including cold beer. There are massages and beauty treatments right on the beach, but be careful with them, after all, they are made by private craftsmen without any guarantees of sanitary safety.

Unfortunately, it is fair to say that, like on Kuta beach, there are a lot of annoying merchants and touts. They offer to do a massage, buy beer, snacks, excursions, all sorts of souvenir trinkets, glasses and other useless rubbish. One has only to look in their direction, as they begin to actively pester them to buy or order something from them, so it's not easy to get rid of them. So if you do not intend to buy something, it is better not even to look at them, and even more so not to ask the price, otherwise you will tolerate their annoying offers for five minutes.

What to see in Legian, attractions and entertainment

There are no attractions in Legian at all. You will have to go to interesting places in Bali from here, and quite far. The most interesting places are located in the center of the island near Ubud and further north. Relatively nearby there is a landmark temple Tanah Lot temple, but you have to go to it, you can't get there on foot. Further south on the Bukit Peninsula there is a famous temple with monkeys Ulu Watu and some cool beaches, but again you need to go there.

Entertainment is a little better here. During the day you can relax on the beach, go shopping, learn to surf, visit the Waterbom Bali water park in the neighboring area of Kuta. In the evening there are nightclubs, bars and restaurants, and again evening shopping. The main hangout with bars and clubs is located along Jl. Raya Legian Street, which passes through Kuta and Legian districts.

How to get to Legian

Kuta is located in the south of Bali near the airport, you can even say that the airport is located in the area of Kuta (Kuta on the map). In fact, when you leave the airport, you are already in the area, and many hotels can be reached even on foot with a backpack or a light suitcase.

If your hotel is far away, you can get there by taxi or motorcycle taxi. When ordering through the Grab, GoJek, Maxim applications, an auto taxi for a short distance will cost from 80,000 rupees (4.48 USD), at the agreed price in the airport parking lot is a little more expensive. A motorcycle taxi will be much cheaper – from 25,000 rupees (1.4 USD). Motorcycle taxis, by the way, are even carried here with suitcases of not very large size, but one passenger at a time. In any case, a trip of two people on two motorcycle taxis will be cheaper and faster than a car taxi.

But an important point: no motorcycle taxis drive directly to the exit from the terminal, you will have to walk 100 meters to the landing point to the left after the exit (landing point on the map). When leaving the international terminal, there is a Grab Lounge office where you can order a taxi without an app and the Internet on your smartphone. To find her, ask the staff of the "Grab Lounge", you will be directed.

Just keep in mind that taxi drivers here are very "smart", you can make legends about them. By analogy with other airports in Asia, barkers waving a smartphone will also meet you at the exit here, allegedly they work through applications and will take you at a Grab price. But in fact they ask for 2-3 times more, so you need to at least agree on the price before the trip and bargain with them.

But if you have Internet on your smartphone, it is better to order a taxi through the application yourself. Moreover, it makes sense to compare prices, because they may differ significantly. We also advise you to install, in addition to Grab, GoJek, Maxim, also the Indriver application, there is a mono "negotiate" with drivers on the price and get a really lower price than in aggregators. But it makes sense, of course, for longer and more expensive trips to other areas.

Finally, theoretically, you can leave the airport by city bus. Bus number2 or K2B runs from 4:30 to 22:00, the fare costs 5000 rupees (0.28 USD). It goes through the district along Jalan Raya Kuta street. This is not a very convenient route, as it runs far from the beach and most hotels, but you can take it to the right turn of Jalan Raya Kuta Street (this is approximately the geographical center of the district, here on the map), exit there, and walk to the right place.

City buses, including route 2 or K2B, suspended operations. There is no information about the resumption of work.

In Legian, you can easily find budget hotels from $ 12 for a double room with a fan, for 15 you can already rent with air conditioning. And from $ 20 you can even find hotels with a swimming pool and close to the beach. In general, as for the choice of accommodation, in our opinion there is a variety and prices are even slightly better than in Kuta.
