Import/export of currency

The import and export of foreign currency in cash to Indonesia is not limited, i.e. you can carry with you as much "cash" as you like.

However, amounts above 100 million Indonesian rupiah in any currency are subject to mandatory declaration, this is approximately 6115 USD or 5307 rub.) euro. Moreover, different currencies are considered in the amount. I.e., for example, if you carry 4000 US dollars and 3000 euros, then in the bag it turns out to be more than 100 million rupees, which means you need to declare. The declaration itself does not oblige you to anything and does not incur any expenses and responsibility, but if this is not done, there may be serious problems up to the withdrawal of money and punishment.

Is it allowed to import electronic cigarettes and systems

Yes, it is allowed, there is no ban on import and sale here yet. However, there are limitations:

• Sticks – 140 sticks or 40 capsules.
• Liquids for open–type systems - 30ml.
• Liquids for closed–type systems - 12ml.

Important! Electronic cigarettes with a built-in battery or batteries are not allowed to be carried in luggage, all this must be put in hand luggage.

How much alcohol and cigarettes can be imported

• 200 cigarettes or 25 cigars, or 100 g of smoking tobacco.
• 1 liter of alcoholic beverages per adult.

These norms include all alcohol and cigarettes that you carry from home in your luggage, or bought at the dutifrey store at the airport of departure or already on arrival and carry in hand luggage, all this is summed up. I.e. if you took 1 liter per person from home and bought another 1 liter at the airport, then this is it will already be a violation.

Restrictions on alcohol and cigarettes are considered for each person, not for luggage. I.e. if you are flying together, you can take not 1 liter, but 2 liters (one for each).

How many personal items can be imported without paying a duty and what needs to be declared

Strictly according to the rules, in addition to alcohol and cigarettes, personal items, souvenirs, and gifts worth up to $ 500 are also allowed to be imported to Indonesia and Bali according to the norms above. Anything over this amount is subject to a 10% duty. But in practice, this requirement is almost not met due to the inability to calculate the cost, unless you are carrying a bunch of identical goods in factory packaging and boxes, which can be regarded as a product for sale.

What is forbidden to import

• Weapons (without special permission).
• Drugs.
• Explosives.
• Flora and fauna of the CITES list.
• Pornographic and propaganda materials, including Soviet symbols.
• Cordless phones (for home use, not cellular).
• Medicines of Chinese origin.
• Printed editions in Chinese.

Cell phones, laptops and other telecommunications equipment that is supposed to be used in telecommunications networks in Indonesia, according to the requirements in theory should be declared. But in practice, this requirement is almost not met, as it is difficult to track your intention to use them in local networks.

What is forbidden to export

• Plants and animals from the CITES list.
• Wood carving from the island of Bali.
• Items of historical and artistic value without special permission.

Is it strictly inspected at customs upon entry

As elsewhere, customs inspection is selective. You can be allowed through customs without any inspection at all, they will only check the completion of the QR code, and that's it. Or they can send you for a random inspection, and then they will let your luggage and hand luggage through the scanner (intrascope), and if something seems suspicious, they can conduct an additional manual inspection. But it is impossible to predict what the probability of this is.
