Balangan Beach is a small beach and at the same time a tiny cozy area with several hotels, located in the south on the Bukit Peninsula (Balangan beach on the map). It cannot be said that it is a very remote and inaccessible place, but nevertheless it is located away from other noisy resorts in Bali and it can be called isolated with a cozy area with its own special atmosphere.
The beach here is really cool. It is located in a bay bounded by rocks on two sides, its length is 300 meters. At the southern edge, behind the rock, there is also a tiny Olen beach (Pantai Olen) only 20 meters long, which can be reached by boat or at low tide along the shore.
The sand on the shore is large and "soft", when walking it sinks deeply under your feet, which is why it is not very convenient to walk along the shore here. The depth at high tide is strong, it starts almost at the shore, so it's not very safe for children here.
Good waves form on Balangan Beach far from the coast, which is why it is popular with surfers, and there is a board rental and a surf school, that and in general everything here works for a surf party. But this does not at all interfere with the usual beach rest on the shore, especially since it is well equipped: there are sun loungers and umbrellas, several view cafes. We rested here for a short time, and there was a feeling of some kind of community atmosphere of like-minded people, as if everyone is on the beach, and strangers are immediately visible.
You can come to Balangan Beach to relax for one day from other more noisy areas, but you can also successfully settle in one of the hotels, unless of course you are satisfied with the atmosphere of such a small village. There are several cafes, motorcycle rental, one supermarket, one exchanger and an ATM.
There is one feature that is worth knowing: the beach is located under a cliff, and the whole area is at the top, i.e. to access the beach you will have to go down and up every time. But the height difference is small, there is a staircase, so it does not create any particular inconvenience. But there is another real problem: the area is very long and goes deep into the land, and hotels are located there. Walking to the beach turns out to be quite far, you will have to rent a motorcycle.
How to get to Balangan Beach
Balangan Beach is located on the western shore of the Bukit Peninsula (Balangan on the map). This is almost the most extreme south of the island of Bali, and although there is very little direct access to the airport, it is actually quite a long way to go here, since the roads lead to detours and meander a lot.
You can get here only by taxi or rented transport. A taxi from the airport will cost from 60,000 to 200,000 rupees when ordering through the applications Grab, GoJek, Maxim, etc.
Hotels and accommodation in Balangan beach, where to stay
In the area near Balangan Beach there are a dozen hotels and as many inexpensive guest houses, there is even a hostel. Budget accommodation options are also available, for example, a room for two can be found from $ 12. But the peculiarity of all accommodation options is that they are located deep in the area and away from the beach, you will have to walk every time and go down to the shore by stairs. There are three hotels right on the beach on the first line: Santai Warung Bali, Suzuke Warung Apartment, The Fins Nerni Balangan Beach. But if you stay in them, then on the contrary, you will have to walk from the beach to the center of the district every time.
